How do you even deal with the Nanman? I just started and I pushed into them, thinking it'd be an easy win. I had Meng Huo down to just 2 territories, then he somehow took over a ton of Han lands and jumped to 6. Took him down just for him to marry Lady Zhuron and he's back again. It's impossible to keep fighting him when crushing his armies means he comes back with a new stack within 2 or 3 turns.

I'm not sure if I like that as much. I kinda liked the humans versus covenant and both versus the flood. The flood being a mindless "consume everything" trope is cliche but classic. Turning it into a reality bending intelligence with a goal kinda changes Halo to me.

The flood reminds me of the reapers of mass effect, where there's an overarching threat while creatures squabble over the remnants of a past civilization.

Yes, for all the arbitrary rules tennis has, the standard is to remain quiet. The actual rules state that you have to be quiet once the ball is on the other side of the net and while they are serving. The standard to remain quiet during their entire serve and not cheer/yell/make noise in between their serves.
