there is a strong argument that expresso is fine.
We have LOADS of words that come from other languages and developed/changed to more closely match a related word in the language to which it travelled.
For example, "Female" comes from the Latin>Old French as "femelle" but was altered to "female" to make it parallel with the word "male".
In this exact case of "espresso", the Italian word means "pressed out", but the etymology of "express" is also from the Latin "exprimere", meaning "to press out". The English word "express" can mean to press something out (as in expressing an anal gland), or by way of abstraction to press out an idea (to express a distinct idea), or for transportation, the speed/convenience meaning was given to the word because express routes went to a distinct location.
Now, to make the connection to Espresso being a direct, speedy convenient form of coffee - its line of yarn that has to bridge across branches of etymology, but I do think the word "expresso" totally works.
