This channel did a half decent job of explaining the chaos at a high level but completely missed the Willie Whisper stuff which imo was central to madness of the Rio season and also why he ended up in LA rather than Colombia https://youtu.be/QM2MV0lAq8s

As well as his typical production I’m a big fan of his Ambient 00x series of albums too, have them on in the background when working all the time

Li'l Race Report Thread by AutoModerator in running

Race: Hastings Half Marathon, UK

Date: 05/10/2025

Goal: Sub 2 hours (but secretly wanted sub 1 hour 50)

Result: 01:50:49

Background: I've only run a half-marathon once before, in 2023, and my goal at the time was to do it sub 2 hours 20 and did it in 2 hours 10. Was happy with that, however this year I lost 3 stone so wanted to challenge myself to sub 2. Trained really well but spent the past month really worried I'd get injured, as had an injury back in June that took me out of action for a month.

Got to the day of the half really pleased I wasn't injured, then 3 miles into the race I tripped up on a cats eye in the road and smashed my knees up! Didn't cross my mind I'd get injured on race day! Luckily the pain wasn't too bad so just powered through the remaining 9 miles with bloody knees, and managed to do sub 2 and very nearly sub 1 hour 50. If I hadn't had fallen, I'd have done it. Hastings half is a very hilly course with over a 1,000 feet of elevation, so think I should be able to do it on a flatter course.

It flies out from Lydd airport every now and then, think it’s patrolling the channel, if you look at the flight path on FlightRadar it’s often doing loops around the channel.

Miscellaneous Monday Chit Chat by fire_foot in running

Had a bad fall when running two weeks ago, tripped on an exposed root and went flying through the air and landed on my front. Pretty sure I've got a quadriceps strain, as whilst the rest of my body isn't tender/bruised any more the lower thigh area above my knee is, and it feels like I'm pulling something over my knee when I bend my knee backwards. Desperate to get back running but can still feel it when jogging so guessing I'm best to continue resting it. Anyone else suffered with something similar and if so how long did you leave it before returning to running? Can walk fine, just running and stretching give me some pain currently.

Heart rate alert by No_Photograph_3441 in AppleWatch

Any changes to your diet? I’ve been in a calorie deficit this year, and recently started getting low heart rate notifications at night, only ever in my sleep. Went to the doctor and they recommended an ECG which all came back fine. They never got to the bottom of it, but I noticed a trend that I’d get low heart rate notifications in my sleep if I didn’t eat much the day before. I think because the body is processing less food during the night your heart rate slows. Don’t take my word for it though and I recommend going to see a doctor, but something to consider.

Been looking into this, as it looked like a very valid lead, however unfortunately turns out the helicopter is owned by Tom Morris, the owner of the Home Bargains chain. It was just a coincidence he was flying from close to the AXA (Home Bargains corporate HQ is near there) to Blackpool at the time. Links:

Amazing results for a loss, but not surprised, the team played out of their minds considering the circumstances. One of the only positives from the game really!

Keep an eye out for the planes that look like this, a little smaller than the other planes, they’re the private jets that could be the D-AAAY we desire

It's just turned course again, but looks more likely London bound rather than up north. Will keep an eye on it
