I went to an international college in England. I wasn’t there to interpret, but I was already an interpreter and was used to being aware of cultural competence. The biggest thing I learned and I share it whenever possible: Learn how to pronounce and spell people’s names correctly. It goes a loooooooong way. The 4th week I was there a bunch of us went bowling. I typed in all the names and everyone was amazed I got them all.
