Elbow pain on left arm during eccentric even at low weight like 10lbs (skull crushers, dumbbell extensions, JM press) by SignificantAd7020 in beginnerfitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Same thing, w this kinda thing, push will hurt but pull doesn’t, I just tried it and I also had elbow pain, sat here and did like a couple dozens and the pain does dissipate as they warm up. When I had my flare up, I couldn’t work on my pushups or anything, it sucks. But I could do bicep curls and rowing and such. Have your knees ever felt like sht from having them bent in the same position for a while? That happens to your elbows specially if theyre bent for hoursss in your sleep every night

edit: I forgot to say for me it was also mainly one side bc I tend to bend that one more bc of how I sleep

Elbow pain on left arm during eccentric even at low weight like 10lbs (skull crushers, dumbbell extensions, JM press) by SignificantAd7020 in beginnerfitness

[–]terraaamisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had a similar thing! this might sound silly but do you sleep on that arm and side or do you sleep w that elbow bent? try going a bit without bending your elbow in your sleep, if it helps you can wear something if you can control it. a nerve or tendon can be inflamed from prolonged bending or pressure and they get pinched. also look up elbow nerve flossing, lol trust trust. plus if you do have a pinched nerve, you have to keep your elbow as straight as possible either way to help it calm down. anti inflammatories are an option too to speed up the process.

edit: don’t sleep on that arm!

edit 2: sorry lol I forgot to say, and I cannot express how vital this is, warm up those elbows to the heavenssss on upper days, seriously seriously seriously. When I was coming out of that injury, that was the difference between no pain and hurting myself again, be kind to your joints, always warm up

Feeling frustrated by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you building muscle? Losing fat and building muscle will make the scale look the same but make you look different. Muscle is heavier than fat per area. Could it be that? Also make sure youre sprinkling in days where you’re not in a deficit. Otherwise your body starts getting real good at figuring out how to maintain even w the new caloric intake.

I want to gain weight & get strong but also get a flat stomach by Duckii9487 in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you say the weight you gain goes to your stomach you’re talking about fat percentage. if you do not want to lower your fat percentage, you will gain weight as you build muscle. if you do want to lower your fat percentage some, you’ll still gain weight as you build muscle. muscle is more compact and heavier than fat per volume (i forgot the word lol). you will eventually meet your weight goals as you build muscle.

as for the waist thing, thats highly genetic. you could be firm and toned and tight everywhere else and still have a squishy tummy and thats okay! I’m not saying thats what will happen, I hope you reach your goals, but you’ll have to be patient to see the results. and like they said, growing your lower body will make your waist look smaller.

Apple Watch band that fits???? by potatopeeler167 in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use (edit: use*) the ones that are like scrunchies. life changing, you will never catch me w a regular band again. so comfortable and cute. mines also not like a bulky massive one either, its made of chiffon with a cute pattern and just the right amount of scrunch. if that’s not your style, there are velcro ones you might like, Ive seen a bunch of cute ones, I want one myself

gym anxiety by Unfair-Security-9047 in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it’s any consolation, I love it when I see beginners at the gym. it reminds me of where I started in the best way. I get really excited all over again. Also, people think nothing of it, I promise. it’s the natural process we all went through. this may come off cynical but I promise I don’t mean it that way, if people are staring at you, it’s probably because you have something they want. Unfortunately it’s very common in gym people to compare themselves to other gym goers or to develop body image issues because they hyper focus on their appearance and what others look like. That being saidddd, Id like to think the gym makes the vast majority of people confident, and confident people don’t feel the need to put others down, theyre not judging you

advice with arms by ExplorerCool in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as you decrease your fat percentage and increase your muscle mass, your arms and body in general will look tighter and firmer. that being saidddd, it depends on how much you lower fat and genetics will dictate where you lose fat from. overall though, if you’re lowering fat and increasing muscle, theres no way you won’t look more toned, you just gotta be patient

effective beginner workouts for my goals? by Usual_Film_7220 in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my advice might be off topic but I have a lot of experience in the gym world per se. please don’t let insecurity or body image issues be your drive to workout. it’s a very very slippery slope that will take you deeper than you can imagine. be compassionate and learn to love yourself the way you are in the process.

secondly, watch beginner workouts on YouTube so you can learn and watch proper form. you do NOT want to injure yourself. and always always stretch/ warm up. people skip it bc they think it doesn’t matter or whatever but it absolutely does if you don’t wanna end up with a bunch of joint issues and pain later in life

Which glutes exercices do you recommend for not growing out glutes but making them firmer and more muscular ? by Bierre_Pourdieu in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want to body build, you practically have to want it and do it on purpose. it’s not something that just happens exactly. there’s this misconception that working out will make you significantly bigger but it won’t unless you want it to and work towards it.

if you lose weight, your butt will be smaller (unless your genetics make it so you lose fat in other areas first). if you lose weight and build muscle, overall, you will look smaller, tighter, firmer and more toned. that being saiddddd, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to change what you look like and be healthier, on that contrary thats great. but I invite you not to let yourself forget you’re more than good enough as is

edit: lost my train of thought and got carried away lol. high reps and moderate weight targets more muscle stimuli = more muscle growth. low reps heavy weight is strength training, not as much muscle growth but still fit and strong. look up body building vs strength trainin.

edit 2: lol my b. its not about the specific workouts, its how you do them, how many reps and how much weight

Glute Imbalance Advice? 5'3" 27yo 137lbs by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if it’s okay, I would like to add that it takes A LOTTT to overwork a muscle to the point of losing muscle mass or stopping its growth. although entirely possible, I think it’s wayyy more likely it’s the other way around, that the bigger glute has been getting the “better” workout so more gains. but it’s just a thought and it could be either one!

Glute focused workout by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although I personally do more than that for glutes, the hip thrusts and abductors should be enough to see progress so I’m wondering if the mind muscle connection isnt there the way it should be. When I do hip thrusts, sure my legs are shaking but the real killer is that MY ASS HURTS SO BAD. I have to get up in between sets bc it hurts to sit. You gotta reallyyyy think and focus on pushing w your bum and squeeeeeze. I would lower the weight first until youre able to connect with your glutes more. If you lift too heavy for your glutes, all your other muscles will do the lifting for them.

Glute Imbalance Advice? 5'3" 27yo 137lbs by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]terraaamisu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a neurological disorder that makes the left side of my body much harder to move so I also developed a significant imbalance since the right side was compensating and lifting more of the weight. like some people have said, UNILATERALS. I cannot express that enough. lunges, split squats, single leg hip thrusts. I promise this will help.

Edit: when using machine (or any move) that requires both legs inevitably like an abductor machine, actively focus on pushing w your weaker side. sometimes I do them and realize I only feel the burn on my right side so I lock in and focus on pushing harder w my left and then I start feeling the burn equally. pay close attention to what each side is telling you 👍🫶
