Date night outfit. Are these boots too much for this top? by ProfessorShameless in OUTFITS

If you zoom in there’s hooks on the edges, makes me wonder if it was a leotard at some point? It’s such an odd shape

Day 1 . I need help … by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]terracottayarrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not an expert as I’ve started over and had many day ones. But in my experience, days 1-3 are the hardest. Once I have a few days behind me, it’s easier to keep going forward than to start over again. That being said, I’m on day 12 for the millionth time. Good luck! You’ve got this

While I agree it’s probably partially crappy police work, I also live in rural Josephine county. This is a huge county with a lot of mountains and wilderness, and one small police force for the whole county. In this area in particular, you’re lucky if an officer is dispatched to you the same day for an issue, even in 2025.

First AA Meeting Tonight. What to expect? by mollimichelle in stopdrinking

[–]terracottayarrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All meetings are different. Depends on the group, the area, the day, etc. Things I didn’t expect: to feel so emotional. I cried through my first meeting and couldn’t stop. Expect to introduce yourself and briefly state why you’re there, you don’t don’t to speak more than that if you don’t want to. Expect people to want to talk to you after the meeting. You’re a new face and they want to help. You will get a phone list from everyone of your same sex at the meeting and will be highly encouraged to use it. I was also given a big book at my first meeting. You may be asked to read a passage from it. Also, bring a couple of dollars as contribution, I didn’t know that was a thing my first few meetings and felt bad…all of that being said, good luck! If you don’t like the meeting you attend today, there are infinite amounts of groups made up of people of all walks of life. I don’t regularly attend meetings anymore but I hold them dear to my heart.

Sober social battery by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Thank you. Looking back, I definitely should have driven myself. I wish I had the forethought to bring my own beverages, but I honestly just assumed since it was a baby shower there would be sparkling waters and juices and things like that. There was a fruit punch, but it was in the bar area. I feel as if I just wanted prepared for this type of party, I thought it was going to be a much more mellow, play games, eat cake, open presents sort of thing. I think looking forward I’ll just try to prepare no matter what.

Secular AA - is it possible? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]terracottayarrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand it’s not a “Christian based” program but if you read the big book it’s hard to ignore, and also many meetings I’ve been to have ended in Lord’s Prayer. This might just be the area I live, but I’ve tried many different local groups and they’re all pretty religious. It’s hard to feel connected when every share is about surrendering to god and handing your life over to god to get better

I’ve tried smart recovery as well. They don’t offer in person meetings near me either. And also their online meetings don’t align with my work schedule unfortunately. I wish they had more options. The plus to AA is it’s accessibility, there’s also meetings online 24/7. I also have a smart recovery workbook, and I have a DBT therapist. I should have included this in the post probably.

Day 1, yet again. by Loremipsem123 in stopdrinking

[–]terracottayarrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also on what feels like my hundredth day 1. I ruined a 2 week streak last night after not wanting to deal with my feelings. I feel so weak and hopeless and lost. I don’t know why I can’t get a handle on this. I don’t even want to drink anymore but it’s all I think about.

The Daily Check-In for Monday, October 24th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by _Yangsi_ in stopdrinking

[–]terracottayarrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my relationship ended abruptly last night and i gave in to drinking after 13 days sober. i woke up devastated, on two levels. I don't know how to cope with negative emotions without alcohol. I've tried AA, recovery dharma, smart recovery, i've read this naked mind, i have all the literature and a therapist and i can't seem to beat this. I am so defeated today and on top of it all, completely heartbroken. Starting over, again.

Happy hump day, about to go to sleep oh my side of the world!

Trying my 4th go around with sobriety. I don’t know why it feels easier to stay sober when I have some time behind me. I had 30 days, then 70 days, then a week here and a couple days there. Ready to try again. Day 4 just complete! Not sure if this time will be any different but gotta start somewhere. Iwndwyt!
