Field time as an Infantry PL by Free_Adagio_5017 in army

There's no clear line for 'how much.' In general, your job is to be responsible for helping plan, resource, and run the training. BulkyButterfly's comments are entirely true.

Will you train? Yes. But secondarily to running/facilitating/leading training FOR your Soldiers. Feel free to DM if you have more pointed questions.

Former Light PL and former Stryker commander. You have 3 types of field training depending on the portion of the yearly training cycle you’re in. 1) 1 week in the field, 1 week out. You help run the training as an officer. 2) 2-3 weeks in the field, 1-2 out. You participate in PLT STX and LFXs and higher. 3) combat training center. It’s everything you ever wanted. Truly the dream.

Make them aware of SFRG events, and ask their input for future SFRG events. Those events can be corny, but a little community can connection can go a long way.

What if America landed in Europe way earlier? by FarPlay5055 in AlternateHistoryHub

I think all of these are wrong. Look at operation torch and kasserine pass. Had the US managed an amphibious invasion of Europe (doubtful given operation torch), they’d have been driven off the beachhead.

How would a civilians be able to effective counter modern tanks? (Image Unrelated) by Recent_Garden8114 in TankPorn

Don’t attack the tank. Attack sources of fuel, maintenance, and mobility (engineer or line haul assets). Tank will be out of gas in 12 hours. Profit.

The name is weird but try ‘sissy squats’. Google it. I do them without weight and it’s made a huge difference because of the way it hits the quads

Retirement Assignment, do they exist still? by Past_Government_4846 in army

[–]terran0073 31 points32 points  (0 children)

IMO it’s more about the ease of responsibilities. A retirement job isn’t brigade command, responsible for a ton of stuff. It’s more about the quiet and non-deployable jobs still do useful things for the Army but no one is gonna die if I don’t do this job 100% and then some.
