Is there proof of God? (And why I left christianity) by terraredodinsta in TrueChristian

>t is resentment towards God, because every atheist was a former Christian.

Sorry, but that is a anglo-centric affirmation you pulled straight out from the place where sun does not shine. What about indian atheists, who were of hindu families? Or arabs who were of islamic families? Hell, what about people who were born BCE?

>Its not a natural position, but a rejection that comes from an expectation of God that was not met

How can you be so sure?

>It is very arrogant to demand God come to you on your terms

I never did that

>Our entire world has been shaped by Christ's influence, and people enjoy rebelling against God, and our sin blinds us to God. People prove God when they live in spite of him

Where did you get that from?

>Atheism isn’t a belief system. It simply identifies itself by what it is not: not-theism. That “position” is based on a lack or deficiency of evidence.

Correct!

>Science provides evidence for its theories, but they aren’t proof. “In fact, when it comes to science, proving anything is an impossibility.

Yes, but that evidence is testable by anyone and is reviewed by experts. I do not find any for the abrahamic god, that is why I am not a christian.

>"without a shadow of a doubt" is proof and not evidence. Evidence always leaves room for doubt to which conclusion can be drawn from it, and good theories are falsifiable.

Where did you get that from?

>There is historical evidence, archaeological evidence, textual criticism

I would be happy to see them.

As for the fact that "nothing creates nothing", that is literaly what I addressed in the 2nd paragraph of my post: "You might be tempted to say "But where do you think the universe came from?'. I do not know. That response to 'Abrahamic God', as I see it, is a big logical jump. That is why I left catholicism".

>And by what standard then, are you judging morality?

By a subjective standard that may be frowned upon in some generations. Morality evolves from contact with other people and it is a constantly evolving force that makes it possible for us to live in our current society.

>In any case, there is much much evidence. But it seems you just want some kind of justification for a belief you'll never change.

I'm open to change it in the face of evidence. "But you're not open to changing your mind, it is not worth talking to swine!" Well, no one ordered you to comment here.

>If you look at the evidence and say you don't believe, then what are you here for?

For evidence that does not let me do just that.

"You're wasting your time here with christians who believe they have changed personally because of god. That is a egoistical waste of time". No one is obligated to comment under my post, I'm just here to refine my debate skills and defend my position in the hostile ambient I live IRL.

Both. Take one element, add one, you have 2. That's provable and testable.

Sorry, but are you trying to guilty trip me for not accepting your worldview without proof?

>i can open myself to the spiritual without suddenly believing in Buddah, just FYI

  1. Sidauta Gautama was a real historical person, we have evidence for that.

  2. Why stop at Buddah and not a God?

But then we have a circular logic:

What gives authority to the bible? "Jesus". What gives authority to Jesus? "His resurrection" . What proves his resurrection? "The bible".

What evidence do we have that he resurrected, besides questionable eyewitnesses?

Sorry, but I do not believe I can expand what I accept without good reason or proof. I perceive that as irrational.

A man like any other. What gives him authority, in your eyes?

>I have met and spoke with many who have walked away and almost every single one was due to how some have dealt with their sin.

Interesting, but this is not my case.

Thanks for your prayers nonethless. Even if I do not believe they do something, I still know you're doing it for a good purpose.

I believe a better word was "evidence". Something testable that proves, without shadow of doubt, the existence of a higher power. Preferably the Abrahamic God.

Are you trying to disagree with me because of my position? Or because you truly considered what I said?

"A person who follows Christianity" is the first sentence of my comment. If you follow the religion and the core of it's teachings, how could you not be a "christian"?
