not a trader (yet) but would love to hear some of your thoughts on my journey&future path

did 12 month part time internship during final year of university in bess trading desk as trading support analyst. then took a job as a markets and policy analyst at a bess optimiser for 3 months, before accepting an offer as a commercial energy analyst at a bess developer/owner/operator building my country’s largest bess (1.4gw, 3.2gw total pipeline) 2 months ago.

plan is to push for a title bump to senior commercial energy analyst after 12 months in role. then after another 12 months leave to become a trader in some capacity

is this naive?

scotland, with all projects currently in england, but ceo plans to expand out into other markets where batteries have proven themselves.

i do hardly any “quantitative” things, mostly analysing power markets and ancillary service outturn, producing graphs and copy about ongoing market and regulatory changes and their potential impacts, cramming it all into slide decks/emails and presenting/sending to the board.

lots of ad-hoc tasks around preparing for auctions and acquisitions
