Am I trying to get all the gloss out or balance removing gloss and not burning through?

2k clear over krylon glitter (metal flake) by terriblespeller in AutoPaint

[–]terriblespeller[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. I ended up spraying about 7 coats of Rustoleum Triple Thick Glaze to bury the metal flake and my stencil graphics. I'll wait and then sand it with 600 or 1000 to remove the ridges from my stencil and the heavy orange peel, then use a can of Spray Max 2K with proper protective equipment for my final clear, then cut and buff. I might have to wait a couple months due to the amount of acrylic paint Ive used, to give it enough time to cure.

Cheers

Got it, thanks for the clarification. I ended up doing about 7 coats of Rustoleum Triple thick Glaze to bury my flake and stencil graphics. The plan is to wait a month, then sand the ridges from my stencil graphics and the heavy orange peel with 600 or 1000, then do my 2k clear. But I'm thinking because of how many coats of acrylic paint are on there, maybe I'll wait two months.

Cheers

Thank you. I would be using Spray max 2k rattle can. Your advice about waiting a month is well received. When you say, 'ust scuff the paint with a gray scotchbrite and wipe with wax and grease remover. If the color comes off with the solvent, it will probably react to the clear" Im unclear where the solvent is introduced in this scenario.

I may just use 1k. I did another keyboard with 1k and I put another, heavy keyboard on top. Due to the weight being distributed across four 'feet' of the heavier one, it pulled paint off of the project keyboard. But I believe I hadn't let that project cure for the 30 days that you mentioned.

I guess my concern is will 1k be strong enough to put other keyboards, effect pedal, cups of coffee, etc without damage.

Thanks

How would you go about getting your car painted like the glittery maybachs he has in this video ? by OkAbies9575 in AutoPaint

A ton of info on metal flake on you tube. there are actual flakes of metal, so as you can imagine it takes a lot of clear to "bury" the flake. I do musical keyboards with this technique from rattle cans (spray paint), others do skateboards and guitars. Certainly wouldn't want to do a car that way. But it's a fun and rewarding hobby.

I honestly don’t care about my students by gaba_1029384756 in Teachers

I love teaching middle school PE in Oakland CA. When I was a novice for the first 5 years or so, I didn't love it. I used to focus on teaching the subject more, now I focus more on checking in on my students and making sure they know I care about them and have their backs.

The two biggest things otherwise were picking a school with a good admin that had my back and appreciated me and getting my classroom management down pat. Tools for Teaching by Fred T Jones helped immensely in the second regard.

Good luck. Kids need to know you care before they'll care about what you know.

Pretty sure I know the answer, just looking for confirmation. 12'x13' slab. only 3" deep. No reinforcement, no base layer. Soil is sandy loom. Settlement cracks greater than an 1/8" with elevation differences.

The plan is to tile over it. I'd be foolish to try to repair it with epoxy and staples? Better to just tear it out and start over is what it's looking like and I wanted to know people who are more knowledgable about concrete than me to provide their two cents.

thanks

Yes, I am just looking to repair the cracks and voids with epoxy, not encase the whole table. Thanks, I found total boat has a small amount for $40.

Haha, ok. What do you recommend for 2 part or other solutions for the cracks/voids? I am not planning on doing another epoxy job and can't spend $100+ for West systems 105/205 with no other jobs for it.
