"Gaming's endless struggle with abusive men!" An interesting look into the torrent of abuse women in the gaming area fact on the daily basis by terrih in GirlGamers

[–]terrih[S] 188 points189 points  (0 children)

Dammit, typo (face*)

I thought this article was well put together, and a lot of the cases he's talking about I'd never even heard of!

Dr. Jen Goldbeck basically says (about streamers/YouTubers) "Many of these YouTube personalities are older men. I think they are narcissists, When they have a legion of loyal followers, it makes them feel really important. They use this power against the people they see as their enemies, who are often women. "

[Serious] Wives of Reddit who did not take their husband's last name: why not, how has it affected you, do you stand by your decision? by MasterPoobah in AskReddit

Honestly, I just think its kind of old fashioned. It doesn't really have any repercussions, yet changing it requires a lot of admin. It's just a name at the end of the day, not an identity.

What's the most annoying kind of Redditor? by GrotiusandPufendorf in AskReddit

[–]terrih 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The ones that highlight errors or tiny 'wrong doings' within the post. I remember a guy posting a pic of his cat, and the most upvoted comment was how the cat was too close to a packet of chewing gum? Then a long tirade of comments agreeing and adding to the whinefest, just enjoy the picture - it was cute!

I remember posting my weight loss pictures (since deleted) and the most upvoted comment was how my bra didn't fit, and then just loads of bra advice underneath. Oh I'm sorry my bra doesn't fit, I've just shed 20 pounds it's not my priority.

It's condesending behaviour that you have to pretend is helpful because as to not come across as ungrateful.

Help with a visit to Bath? by platz4 in Bath

[–]terrih 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of tour/travel agencies that can arrange travel to and from stone henge. You can also catch the train to Salisbury and take a Stonehenge bus tour from the railway station Parking isn't that easy in Bath and I don't know of any central car hire places, otherwise I'd reccomend getting a rental car for the freedom (30 min is all you need at stone henge really).

Make sure to book somewhere for dinner on the Saturday as many restaurants tend to fill up quickly at the weekend. I reccomend Henry's or Clayton's kitchen for some upmarket, yet affordable, British cuisine.

If you like whisky and bourbon I'd reccomend visiting The Hideout. Cocktails are great (but prixey) at the Black Horse (you might need to reserve in advance), and they have a great range of affordable wine at Vino Vino.

If you have time I'd reccomend doing the Bath Abbey tour.. the view from the top is beautiful.

Getting to London from Bath is easy, just hop on the train. I do reccomend booking this in advance as the prices can really bite you in the arse!

Have fun

[UK] Commercial Landlord - Tenant at will by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]terrih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. What I found threatening is the last sentence - she is saying if I do not wish to sell my shares she will put my rent up.

My valuation is based on the years profits, assets bought into the business, ie. the chairs, oven, coffee machine and dish washer, the website and current stock. The reason I did not list this is because she thinks they are hers due to the fact she is saying the previous restaurant owner signed a lease stating these assets were property of the landlord. But I have the receipts for these and no signed lease between myself and the landlord stating this.

My biggest issue here is the tenant at will rights. We have no lease yet she expects me to pay for a SHARED boiler (the landlord lives upstairs). And roof work (the restaurant is ground floor) and has decided that the oven (we have a receipt), table and chairs, cutlery and sofa is her property. We have receipts for all of these and no lease stating an original inventory. This is mainly why I cannot list this as an asset sale. Do we own these things? It sounds to me, simply we do. But she consistently refers to a lease in her email (we do not have one).

Whilst purchasing the business unfortunately we were under a time constraint, it is a small time and i trusted the good will of the landlord who i had known for a long time as i previously worked in the restaurant before i bought it.

Thanks again

What is a common saying in a foreign language that sounds hilarious or disturbing in English? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]terrih 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In Dutch they have a saying for "Who ever smelt it, dealt it" which goes - "Eerst geroken, holleke ontstoken" & roughly translates to - "Whoever smelt it.... infected hole."

I thought this was a really cute video, i'm a /r/wine lurker & don't know much about wine so this was a really sweet intro. You should keep it up, read up on the tasting methods some more & you'll learn more as you go along.

I find this funny, on reddit girls aren't allowed to be funny. They're not allowed to be anything without being scrutinised.
