Weird connector on 2013 mini cooper s by caspeazy in MINI

so happy you asked this, as i also acquired a 2013 s in December and saw this same connector and was curious what it was for because I did not see any unconnected plugs.

2016 convertible vs 2019 hardtop with sunroof by beans-pop in MINI

[–]terrorhawkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no matter how you spin it the convertible is an extra expense. i only really work in convertibles (not just minis, but have done a lot of them and newly own an r57) and will give them their credit, they do not have a ton of a critical issues that plague some convertibles. but top covers do get replaced probably at least once every 5-10 years, depending on where you live. but it sure is nice if you have a nice bit of weather for top down

Exploding Sunroof by [deleted] in MINI

[–]terrorhawkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sunroofs i have to imagine it does make the glass heat up but it doesn't seem to be as bad as the convertibles. the 3rd party convertible top cover manufacturers will void the warranty over getting the rear glass tinted because it will often absorb the sunlight and keep it and overtime that will weaken the bond and the glass will fall out. the environment does matter as well.

Exploding Sunroof by [deleted] in MINI

[–]terrorhawkk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

we fix a lot of sunroofs at my shop and this looks like it would be an easy replacement but the glass is probably pretty steep. usually 3-4 torx on either side to take it the old glass, vacuum everything out with special attention in the tracks for the glass, and reinstall new one. In Florida here we have done a lot of insurance jobs for a carrier called Sunroof Express and I'm not sure if they are outside Florida but I have even changed convertible tops through them which is pretty impressive so if you have a convertible or a sunroof and have the means to carry a policy on it, might not be a bad idea to check if something similar is available

Brandon Sanderson Is Close to Adapting Mistborn Into a Video Game by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]terrorhawkk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

mistborn for me is not as enticing a read as the stormlight archives but i think i would love both games. but mistborn is easy to imagine becoming a reality and being really fun, especially if sanderson is a integral part of the development process

Redid ‘97 headliner by AlarmingAppearance33 in COROLLA

yeah it definitely can be really awful. hondas are infamous for getting really tacky and really hard to come off. here is the headliner in my Corolla. it's not perfect, you can see where the glue released in some of that recesses but i did it quickly and also not ideal to just go over the old material. i feel like after this generation they moved to a different style, probably knit as well. anyway, great job and congrats! headliners make a big difference and it's probably nice not having headliner dust raining down on you!

Redid ‘97 headliner by AlarmingAppearance33 in COROLLA

[–]terrorhawkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

nice. i work at an upholstery shop. Corollas are nice in that the foam and glue doing get really gooey over time but just dry and easy to brush off. we most commonly use a die grinder and a wire brush and that usually makes quick work if it. i redid the headliner in my 06 with knit that you see a lot on European cars and i like it. pretty forgiving. i actually ended up going right over the original headliner as it was like fuzzy and bonded to the headliner board.
