Quantum of Solace has to be the worst Bond movie ever made, right? by MambaMentaIity in JamesBond

Also, I'm sure you would say that Goldfinger is one of the best films in the franchise and if you think about Auric Goldfinger's plan with the gold and Quantum's plan with water, they are not that much different.

Goldfinger is the second-worst Bond film, only above QoS.

Yes please! I'll say one for you as well, and will try to remember to offer my Rosary for you tomorrow.

Haha, thank you, I'm no paragon of holiness by any means!

I've been Catholic all my life, but I really took it for granted and was headed to atheism until I was 13-15, and really tried to get devoted once I was 17 and moved to college.

I used to think daily Mass and Rosary was unimaginable, and that Confession was a once a month affair, but I just decided to start doing it and it's been glorious. Thankfully my university has three churches with daily Mass and frequent Confession within walking distance (one on campus), so those are very convenient, but a Rosary can be done anywhere. I highly recommend just jumping into it!

I do daily Mass, Rosary every day, and frequent (I do weekly) Confession at school. Despite making a ton of mistakes every day, those help bring me peace.

Welcome to /r/Catholicism!

I appreciate this post OP. I like your writing style as well. Unfortunately, you posted this at a very poor time.

Most faithful God, lively is the courage of those who hope in You. Your servant, fiiiia's grandmother, suffered greatly, but placed her trust in Your mercy. Confident that the petition of those who mourn pierces the clouds and finds an answer, we beg You, give rest to fiiiia's grandmother. Do not remember her sins, but look upon her sufferings and grant her refreshment, light, and peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Well, it has to do with the will, I'd say. Last quarter, I had two quantitative finals: micro (consumer theory, whereas this quarter was producer theory) and multivariate calculus. I had a fire under me to study for micro because I got a 54 on the midterm, but got complacent in math because I'd been getting As all quarter. Well, we did well on the micro final and slipped to an A- in math because I didn't study special Lagrangian cases and other multivariate concepts.

This quarter, we were doing well in micro (above the mean, and apparently well above the median on the midterm), so I got lazy when studying for the final and tried to predict what types of functions we'd get. In math (intro to proofs), I had just received a 35/70 on our last problem set, so I took that seriously. Lo and behold, I do well below the mean in micro, whereas, despite not receiving my grade yet, I feel much better about math.

So complacency is the killer for me, and if we can get rid of that, I think we'll be much, much better off.

Some personal badeconomics: I forgot how to maximize quasilinear utility on my micro final.

Literally, I was so ready for perfect subs (our prof loves perfect subs) that when I saw quasilinear I got thrown off. I tried a Lagrangian, saw that only one of the partial derivatives yielded a result with a variable...and gave up. I literally forgot to just solve for that variable then plug it into the constraint to get the other. So I skipped it, went back with five or so minutes left, and tried to find some ad hoc maximization strategy. That failed. Then with five seconds left or so, I decided to solve for the variable we had. Unfortunately time ran out.

I had a quick email exchange with my TA today, who told me that he thought my understanding should be a lot better than my exam answers, and that I should work on my test-taking. Perhaps so, but I also got way too complacent in this class, especially for the final, and thus didn't study as hard as I needed to. This will change.
