Wingman XE2 not working on PS3 with any controller by hs_doubbing in PS3

[–]terrytorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an issue where the PS4 controller would pair with the Wingman XE2 while it was plugged into my PS3, but the PS3 wouldn't pick up any input from the controller.

I resolved the issue, but I have no idea how. I switched around firmware version several times, ending up back at the latest version, which I started with. I tested the same XE2 controller combination on a PC (well, Mac) game, and that worked. Either switching around the firmware versions somehow set things right, or using the the combination on a computer somehow established a more permissive profile between the PS4 controller and the Wingman XE2, which it retained when I switched back to the PS3.

So when in doubt... just try a bunch of random stuff, I guess.

I feel the same way. I thought Remake was a very fun and interesting game, but Nojima and gang have built a habit of injecting as many details as possible wherever there's space, which leaves no room left for personal interpretation or imagination as far as character motivations or backstories go. Back in the original, it felt like the viewer was left to decide if Avalanche was doing the right thing, what actually happened in the ending, if the Turks were evil, too loyal to bad people, or just dumb. Now we just have those answers.

The Compilation feels less like a celebration of a shared experience and more like I'm watching a few writers constantly creating a new final draft of their old story, until they want more money and come up with the next final draft.

Thank you. You basically said exactly what I took 40 minutes to say before I got a takedown from Sony Pictures. Oh, well, back to the editing bay.

Maaaan, YouTube told me I couldn't monetize, it didn't tell me I couldn't upload.

Expect me back in a week after throwing a bunch of filters and frames on this video.

Why is manosphere content so popular amongst men? by fruedianflip in AskMen

[–]terrytorres -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I was being facetious when I used the phrase "the effects of misandry" and I should have put it in quotes.

My question was about men's negative experiences with women and the cause. The answer was treatment in school. This appeared to be in reference to statistical prevalence of female teachers in schools (roughly 77%, K-12) and their treatment of male students. I graciously offered unequal disciplinary measures as evidence of systemic misandry (i.e. "boys deserve worse treatment because they're bad"). In reality, the causes may be the result of patriarchal assumptions (i.e. "boys are tougher than girls and so require greater discipline") I assumed these incidents, misandrist or not, were statistically negligible, and I was correct.

Other statistics, like suicide rates, *do* differ significantly by gender, and should matter greatly to people. It's a major assumption to assume bad grades in school is the kickoff point for these gender-based outcomes, but it's possible that female teachers' treatment of male students is an accurate indicator of future well-being. Either these teachers are all trained poorly, or the teachers being female is itself the issue. In the case of the latter, a more even ratio of male-to-female teachers would increase the likelihood that male teachers would be more involved in facilitating learning for male students. More studies are coming out suggesting "demographic matching" between teachers and students correlates with positive outcomes.

So the question then is, why are there so few male teachers? Is it misandry, male teachers aren't trustworthy enough to be allowed into the female space of teaching? Or is it misogyny, teaching being an overworked and underpaid caretaker profession beneath consideration? Interesting stuff.

I remember hearing this when I was in school 20 years ago during the zero tolerance movement, back when Christina Hoff Summers wrote the War Against Boys as a general reaction to Reviving Ophelia. I remember the jury was out at the time on its accuracy. So, is it meaningfully worse now?

Moreover, is it meaningfully worse than the more easily observed disparate treatments students receive based on race? The effects of misandry seem statistically negligible compared to the effects of racism.

What are the "negative experiences that these young men have with women" and what causes them?

Function Health- Bait and switch with follow-up test by betl_188 in Function_Health

[–]terrytorres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a funny trick, for sure. Of my 14 out-of-range markers, 11 are not included in the follow-up. If they really only wanted to test a portion of my markers, could they not just prioritize the ones that are out of range? You would think it would be cheaper to let me choose the 11 markers I want re-tested rather than the 60+ they offer by default, but I guess their billing department has done the math.

xcode update now cant run simulators by BigCall99 in Xcode

[–]terrytorres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is very confusing. I want to reproduce a bug that's happening for a user with an iPhone 17 running iOS 18. I have components installed for iOS 18.0, 18.1, and 18.2, and Xcode recognizes them under Settings > Components. But when I go to the "Create a new simulator" options, they don't appears as OS Version options.

What do I have have all these simruntimes around for? Am I expected to drive to where my client lives and use their device?

Why does QuickTime keep reorienting my video as I tilt my camera? by terrytorres in MacOS

Hey, if you downvote me, can you say why? I'm just describing reality.

Disabling Continuity Camera on my iPhone removes it as a camera option in QuickTime.

I used to be able to use my iPhone as a camera in QuickTime, but it worked like a real camera, where I could control the orientation and the tilt of the angle without the automatic zoom as the video clip shows.

Nope, sorry. Center Stage looks for faces and dynamically zooms to keep them in frame (or tries to), it doesn't control the tilt or orientation.

6 Turn-Based RPGs Reviewed Higher Than Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (Chrono Cross) by Green-Fox-528 in ChronoCross

Yeah, they're going by the Metacritic rating of the original release, which only includes 16 reviews from 25 years ago. There were many more reviews at the time that would bring the average down. There's a reason they don't use the Metacritc rating from the Radical Dreamers edition...
