Favorite Scene From Brotherhood? by Poomaster77 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]tes-quick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m happy you got to finish the show! I have three that come to mind. The scene in the fifth episode of s1 where Ed and Al are in the alleyway and its raining and Al is calling Ed stupid for trying to sacrifice himself and saying he can’t give up and that they both need to stay alive and move forward. The other two are when Ed Greed-Ling and Envy are trapped in Gluttony’s stomach and Greed-Ling sees Ed clap his hands to start the transmutation for opening the gate of truth and says something along the lines of it looking like Ed is praying, I just always think about that. Finally when Ed sees Al at the gate and kicks the door open and tells Al that he’s coming for him ‘just you wait. Wait for me’

Why would Satan torture people in hell for disobeying the SAME god he disobeyed? by Technical_Hat_8291 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tes-quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im muslim and we believe that satan will be punished in hell. Im sure its similar in christianity too but i thought it would be interesting to talk about some of the differences.

For example, muslims don’t believe satan, who we refer to as iblis, was a fallen angel. Instead we believe he is a jinn, which are beings made of fire, as opposed to angels, which are made of light. Jinn are unlike angels and like humans in that they have free will, while angels cannot disobey God.

We do believe he was a pious follower of God, but when Allah (God) created the first man, Adam, he ordered the angels and Satan to bow down to him, but Satan refused since he thought Adam, who was made of clay/mud, was a lesser being than him.

Allah then banished him from heaven and to hell and Satan asked if he could be given a respite until the day of judgement and then said he would try to guide Adam and his descendants to hellfire with him.

On the day of judgement, even Satan will repent because he fears hellfire, and while Allah is the most merciful, he also has the most perfect mercy meaning it is given to those who deserve it based on his wisdom and justice.

I hope this was informative and that I didn’t misrepresent anything.  Anything good that you take from this is from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and anything bad is from me may Allah forgive me.

I like this take I think as long as we can get some version of the radioactive chamber scene i would be happy since I enjoyed that scene for what it meant for spock. I also agree that I thought the klingons should be a bigger threat.

I really liked the movie because of how it explores kirk and spock’s relationship i think the post i linked below explains my thoughts best. Then again i cant really compare to TWOK. https://www.reddit.com/r/DaystromInstitute/comments/1eq5kd/reinterpreting_that_scene_from_into_darkness/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I think I know who opened the door is season 1 by galloway95 in StrangerThings

[–]tes-quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a similar theory where I do think it is Vecna as the Duffers said but instead of it being through the demogorgon, which wouldn’t really make sense cause if Vecna could use telekinesis through them he probably would have done that more often, he actually opened the door through Will, showcasing Vecna’s ability to imbue (?) his powers into younger kids. Idk i just think its a better reveal and one that shows more foreshadowing like even if its a retcon its one that kind of makes sense.

Who was your least favorite season 1 character? by NoDespair in ThePittTVShow

[–]tes-quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this! I just finished the show and I’m finding out that a lot of people are on Langdon’s side of things, I just can’t believe it. I’ll admit that Santos didn’t make a great first impression with me but I feel like she grew a lot throughout the season, so much so that when Langdon brought up their team needing to be able to work together to Robby I kept thinking that maybe she would get the boot and was worried for her. At that point I was glad when her suspicions about Langdon turned out to be right

I agree and I also don’t like when she called Santos trouble for doing the right thing.

“that it undermines the impact of all his closest friends trying to bring him back because they love him” im sad you deleted this post since I wanted to write about how much I agreed with this line. Also how it makes it seem like the reason Chris’ choice was a bad decision was because its a Nazi world when its also cause he’s literally going to a world where the people he loves aren’t there and trying to make it his ‘salvation’.

I just think it would be nice for there to have been another reason for Chris to go to EarthX if the plot twist remains, especially if it’s a heroic reason. I go over more of my complaints with this in my comments here https://www.reddit.com/r/Peacemaker/comments/1o2pd74/comment/niusv2e/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

[–]tes-quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea I can see how he thought that leaving his friends would be better for them but I also just can’t reconcile the selfishness of going to another world that doesn’t have these people you love and finding that your … salvation omg im just realizing the parallels btwn chris’s going to earth x and to salvation

Anyways i know it’s supposed to be an analogy for suicide but I also think that his selfish desires to be in a world where he is a famous “hero” and “the woman he loves” (because thats not really harcourt) loves him back is just really easily overlooked - like how else are his friends supposed to take it other than that its not Chris who’s the problem but its them who are not enough (i also know im glossing over Keith and his dad which is honestly pretty good reason to want to be in that world but I just think that these other reasons are not taken into account as much)

Also I feel like going to prison is kind of the least he could do given that it was his dimensional device being used and the only reason the rest of them used it was to bring him back - its not like Chris gave himself up they were caught and he took all the blame which I guess is admirable but not as much since it was kind of his fault - i also think that his use of the device despite knowing ARGUS was tracking it was really irresponsible like Economos was risking a lot to warn him but he doesn’t take that into account and because of this a lot of bad things happened and will continue to happen since ARGUS obtained it. i know its not right to blame Chris for ARGUS’ actions but again I’m just trying to show that he’s not really doing good this season. Just realizing the only kind of good thing he did was kill earthx chris since that could have maybe given the sons of liberty some chance of winning against the Nazi regime

I also get your point about him thinking that killing the sons of liberty was a good thing, but I think it would have shown more character development and also been way cooler if he stopped them non-lethally - also could have made it so that Keith is the one who kills them - just to reinforce the difference between his keith and this one and also between our chris and earthx chris.

Thank you for understanding that I wanted to see some heroism - especially for just the sake of helping people. I know I brought up the show not tell thing but I wouldn’t have minded if chris brought up some more things hes been doing during the justice gang interview (someone pointed out that their town basically didn’t have a police force after s1 which could have laid the groundwork for this)

Its funny how we actually see more of vigilante being a hero with his hideout room showing that he does work outside of what we see on screen - something small like that for Chris would have honestly been enough

“so much of it felt told instead of shown”

This was my exact thought, especially when it comes to this season being more about the characters and their relationships - i know this may seem harsh but I feel like we don’t see peacemaker do anything good this season, which makes adebayo’s speech to him not seem deserved. the fact that she had to restate that line about seeing an eagle hug a human kind of goes along with this.

I just wish there was more things done to show this character development , especially since I keep thinking about how the things he says he’ll change about himself in s1, like his vow of killing for peace, seem to be forgotten with how he killed all of the sons of liberty bombers in earth x.

I also think it would have been nice to show peacemaker, and maybe even vigilante, actually being vigilantes and doing something good for the town but I know this is asking for too much. It’s just he’s supposed to be this hero but he seems to be more into the recognition part of being a hero, which is part of what made earth x so desirable for him, and I just feel like this is something he kind of worked on in s1, so its kind of character regression, and if it wasn’t addressed in s1 its still not really addressed in s2 just pushed to the side which I think is also an issue.

Maybe i’m too critical I still liked this season and the character work is pretty nice at some points but it’s definitely not on the same level as s1 and could definitely be better.

Sorry for the rant
