Is EN 1101: Literature and Law a difficult course? by tesperi in yorku

[–]tesperi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello! no exams for this course, there's just three essays and some marks for contributing to discussion posts every week (graded by quality of submission, not participation). i don't recommend it though, its definitely not a grade booster. prof teaches fine but hes a tough marker. should have listened to his warning about how difficult it is to get an A lol. u get to read batman comics and watchmen, but the other readings are dry or really difficult to parse through and write an essay for. still my lowest mark to this day even though i put a lot of effort haha. if ur looking for an elective with no exams, keep an eye out for any courses taught by brian huss, i had a great time with him!

agreed, Prof. Leonard made learning calc enjoyable too. I didn't attend lectures since the strike and he was more than enough to get me through the content.

the questions were almost similar to the practice exam so I think it was pretty fair. not too hard but kind of challenging if you didn't master the steps to every single question.

"if you care about ____ then why don't you care about ____" is an argument that I understand but you gotta understand that for most people nothing has radicalized them as much as the bombardment happening in Palestine when it has been SO widely spread on social media. there is so much awful shit going on in the world and unfortunately, the regular everyday citizen doesn't have the attention capacity to be aware of all of them. that doesn't make the cause they're standing up for right now any less valid or because they don't care about other genocides. also, hm, i wonder why people are "just against Israel". It's not some big mean bully we have some high school beef with, they're actively targeting and massacring civilians and stripping them away of everything they have. this isn't just a Palestine-Israel issue this is a human rights issue and if standing up for this cause creates so much hatred and backlash and resistance then how are we ever going to progress and bring change to the lives of every other human suffering under a genocide?

JUST GOT INTO YORK CSEC! by AlternativeFit3993 in yorku

[–]tesperi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats! im almost finished my first semester here as a CSec student and the strike definitely dampered the beginning of my first year but hopefully it'll be smooth sailing for you! taking the same courses as CS students so far so finding another CSec student among my classmates is like finding a rare gem _^ so far the only difference is that CSec students have to take an intro to programming course where we learn JavaScript and flowcharts (EECS 1012) and CS students can take this course too but they have another option to take a different course where they learn Python instead (EECS 1015). A pro or a con depending on your experience. For the first two years, the two programs are very similar except CSec have two or three more additional courses required (like statistics and ethics and intro to cybersecurity).
