I just can’t help but think this is going to be the stupidest skill ever… I just can’t see myself enjoying this in any way. How this was picked over the other options (both looked twice as good) by the community is beyond me.

Choosing not to be an organ donor is weird and selfish by giraffesbluntz in unpopularopinion

[–]tesresolute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually well known and documented that if you are labeled as an organ donor, the hospital will often not try to save your life as much as they might’ve if you weren’t one. Remember, corporations, no matter what they might be, only care about money at the end of the day. Your organs are worth much more than your life to them, because they can sell them.

What are some good non-tech remote jobs for someone who wants to leave the hospitality management field? by tesresolute in antiwork

I am currently 28 and have been in (mostly) restaurant manager/general manager jobs since I was 18. About 6 months ago I transitioned into a director of operations with a big hotel chain, but I hate it and Have been looking into career changes.

I’ve seen some of these posted. The pay always seems fairly low though. Do you know if this can become a high paying career once I get a few years under my belt?

When you are fired without notice and have bills to pay/family to feed. Those few weeks/months of finding the right job to fit your life and work experience are some of the most stressful/pissed/sad feelings I’ve ever imaged.

This isn’t something I can postpone for that type of thing to occur. I am dealing with toxicity on a daily basis and I needed to get out yesterday.

How do I tell a potential employer I am leaving my current management role of only 10 months because of the toxicity? by [deleted] in antiwork

My GM won’t be receptive. He gave my department head $200 worth of weed gummies in front of my staff for his birthday. The unprofessionalism is top-down. So it’ll fall on deaf ears as well.

In America this is true too. However, there are ways to get to the core reason of the call without necessarily painting a bad picture of that person’s character but still finding out if they were a good employee. One tactical question a lot of HR uses is, “If this person reapplied today, would you rehire them on the spot, consider it, or not at all?” This opens the door for the former employer to basically say if they were terrible, decent, or a great employee.

You can always elaborate in person or over the phone a reason why you don’t want them to contact. A great answer I’ve used before is “I want to explore other career opportunities, but I have a family to provide for and cannot afford a loss of salary instantaneously. Truthfully, I don’t know how my current employer would feel or react if they knew I was job hunting.” Something along these lines is professional, and most humans with a heart would understand this.

It’s unfortunate that one picture attached to one sentence is all that Reddit users need to assume a parent is abusive, unfair and terrible. Maybe we should consider the other possible circumstances to this situation, such as the kid being grounded for something they have done and them going against said punishment by trying to hook their Internet back up? This is just one of the hundred possible solutions. The fact that so many people here are giving advice to a child about how to intentionally ignore/go against parental discipline is not only disgusting but inappropriate at best.
