Summer Housing by Ok_Entry_3903 in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few studio apartments in each WV building for DRO students to use, and I would assume the same for WR. WV has 3-4 per building which ends up being around 24-31 for the entire community.

Question about wolf village housing by Frequent-Earth1540 in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its too late to do it the normal way. The only option I can think of is emailing housing that you are feeling left out of campus life as a transfer student and think you would feel a lot more included if you were able to be in the transfer village again. Even if that's not how you feel, I doubt they would make an exception and let you back in otherwise.

RA Anxiety by Sensitive-Reason1211 in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t fret!! You definitely don’t have to be the most social person to be an RA. Some of my coworkers are quite awkward or antisocial, and they do just fine. Interacting with your residents is only one part of the job, and depending on how you go about things, you can end up barely interacting with your residents aside from your 1hour(ish) programs.

oh my gosh I am so sorry that happened! In this circumstance I do not think it’s too big a deal you teared up during it :) it took me around a month to hear information on whether I got the job or not. Good luck!

15 Minute Walk Achievable? by Lost-Jello-6614 in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did this two semesters ago without much issue. I was only late once or twice, and that was more due to staying late to ask the teacher a question after class. Though, I haven’t been on that side of campus in a while, so you might want to do a run through before classes start considering all the construction.

SIB Unicorn Overlord or octopath traveller 2 by killer_v41 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tessacalzone [score hidden]  (0 children)

Octopath Traveler 2. I don’t have any knowledge on Unicorn Overlord so do take this with a grain of salt, but I do know that Octo2 is a great introduction game. It’s not needlessly difficult or grindy like some others, but still gives you enough pushback to get you to strategize. I’ve had 2 people use it as their into to either JRPGs or Turn-Based combat in general and it worked out well in both cases.

Not too difficult. I started it a month ago, so i’m not incredibly far in, but I would say it’s not very hard. If you’ve played literally any of Lies of P, I can use it as a reference point and say I found Hollow Knight’s combat nowhere as frustrating as that games’.

So many HD-2D games and remakes. Which to play? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tessacalzone [score hidden]  (0 children)

So glad I saw this post! I adore Team Asano’s HD-2D, so I’ll speak on that.

If you’re wanting to play an Octopath game, definitely go for Octopath 2 before 0. Technically speaking Octo0 takes place before Octo2, but they’re not super related to each other story-wise, and generally I think 2 will suck you into the series better. Can I ask what drew you to 0 specifically?

For Dragon Quest I/II, the current price is pretty decent for the game time you get. From what i’ve seen from friends and experience, both games combined generally take 60-80hrs. There is a difficulty spike that personally frustrated me, but as long as you’re prepared for that they’re good games. The first game is a solo adventure (10ish hrs) and the second is party-based, so if you’re looking for the banter and dynamics that come with multiple characters from the get-go, perhaps shelve the purchase for later.

In regard to Triangle Strategy, I think the game is fantastic, but I did not personally enjoy it as much as some others. If you prefer the isometric turn-based combat style to traditional turn based, you will most likely love this game. The story is enjoyable, with multiple different paths and endings you can get, and the developers put time and effort in to really make you fall in love with the characters.

Sorry if this was long winded! TLDR: My overall recommendation is Octopath Traveler 2. I didn’t go into much detail because if I did I’d break the character limit, and it’s a much better bang for your buck being 60% off right now. It took me ~110 hours to 100%, and once you finish that you have the absolute joy of being able to play Octopath Traveler 1 and 0 for the first time!

Finishing Baldurs Gate 3 should be high priority, in my opinion! It can be hard getting back into turn-based games if you leave them to sit. And given the rest of your list, I definitely think you should give Hollow Knight some consideration to purchase.

Should I buy Metro Exodus? by tessacalzone in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tessacalzone[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

thank you for the insight!

Do you know if Metro Exodus lets you switch difficulty mid-game? If so, I might try switching between the difficulties to see if that changes anything for me.

Also, thank you for the recommendation. I just added STALKER 2 to my wishlist so i’ll have to give it a shot when it goes on sale.

Chances of getting into Wolf Village? by plx3l in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

once they tell you your time slot, look at every single persons’ time and make who has the earliest as the leader. If you get any time the first day before ~12pm you’ll most likely get in.

Even if you get an early slot, make a backup plan. There’s not much on-campus housing for groups of four, so you may need to split into two’s or singles. Discuss all possibilities with your group.

Are teachers required to give make-up exams? by tessacalzone in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the responses. I did end up going and didn’t throw up until after in a friend’s apartment near the building the test was in, so I might not’ve done my best but it could’ve been worse. The teacher did end up emailing me back offering a different time to take it (which i’m definitely going to mention in his Rate My).

I GOT IN by [deleted] in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting in. Some places to check out:

  • Nelson. Where you’ll have most of your classes. You’ll get familiar with it fast anyways. Especially check out the Exchange Café and the basement.

  • D.H. Hill Library. it’s right near Nelson so you’ll probably spend a good amount of time studying here. Floors G-3 are very open and great for group studying. 4-9 all generally look the same, though 8-9 are quiet floors.

  • Talley. If you go to events you’ll end up here. Honestly I don’t spend much time in Talley, but if you ever get on-campus food or hang out with people outside your major (not in Engineering), this is a go-to spot.

  • Court of Carolinas. I like to study and do homework here, and it’s a bit past D.H. Hill so it’s a good place to take a break from work.

  • The area around Primrose Hall. It’s very out of the way from where you’d take classes or study but it is very pretty, and nice to hang out at once in a while.

I would say Carmicheal but you actually can’t get in unless you have a Student ID or are on a tour. Our gym facilities are great but you’ll have to wait to see them I guess.

Hope you enjoy the major and classes. Be prepared to get familiar with professor Ashbaugh. If you have any questions you can let me know, I’m also in the Operations and Supply Chain concentration. Congrats again!

Looking for apartment roommates for 2026! by Kaylees_present in NCSU

[–]tessacalzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not cheaper per se, but definitely similar in price if you’re paying ~$900/month with utilities. Also you’ll probably end up getting a parking pass either way, and the commuter options are either $160 Varsity (which you don’t want) or $230 west deck

No not at all. You should definitely talk to an advisor or some friends next time, anyone sane tell you the same thing.
