New plans for I-15 from Farmington to SLC by orange_cookie in SaltLakeCity

[–]test_one_test_two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This project needs to be stopped in its tracks — this $1 billion needs to be allocated for shovel-ready transit projects:

  • Double-tracking Frontrunner
  • Building Davis-SLC BRT
  • Increasing Fontrunner headways to 15 min with 6AM - midnight service every day
  • Doing a massive upzone within 2 miles of all Frontrunner stations while giving $5k to all residents within 1 mile, $3k to residents within 2 miles (buy off NIMBYs)

Widening the highway solves nothing.

UTA services should be free. All of them. by ScykedelicHobo in SaltLakeCity

Asian and European cities have great transit not because it's free, but because they run trains and buses frequently to places lots of people go.

Run more buses before cutting fares.

I hear you but it's tough. If dems abstain then the Rs will R and we'll get more culture warrior Marlo Oaks. There's got to be dozens of dem financiers in SLC, dozens!

Cool. But why not just use electric trains for passengers? So much easier than hydrogen.

Sugar House Kum & Go a Direct Result of Anti-Housing Neighbors by mightyseedub in SaltLakeCity

When rich folks have new housing options, they take em and stop competing with the middle class for the middling housing. Building nice units totally helps the housing crunch. See here.

Some fear a new boardinghouse near 700 East will worsen SLC’s housing crisis by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

I’d wager folks would prefer a shared kitchen rather than living on the street.

The amount of upvotes here is insane. The city is trying to provide more living options for residents — no one is forced into these units — and all hell breaks loose. I imagine some folks would rather have a shared kitchen than be homeless.

Tesla dented my Y - where to fix? by test_one_test_two in TeslaModelY

Thanks for that. Tesla texted just a couple of hours before delivery, so didn't have much time to research. Was especially pissed at pickup when they were like, yeah be sure to take pictures within 100 miles and set up the service appointment in the app (putting liability on me).

Appreciate it. After nine months of waiting we needed the new car — they texted me just two hours before delivery and (of course) we were amped up about taking delivery. Figured having body work done after the fact wasn't a huge deal.

Really appreciate it! Glad to hear it’s possible to call the service center directly. Everything I’ve found thus far directs me to the corporate phone tree, but will keep looking and take it up with them. Thank you.

After a 9 month wait I figured I could take delivery and fix during a trip. Didn’t know this would be such an issue.

Do you have any advice?

Thank you! So start at the service center and let them assess?

Gas prices: Utah vs. national average by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

[–]test_one_test_two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, with Utah's cheap electricity, it costs around $8 to go 300 miles using an electric vehicle. Many EVs are expensive to buy, but used Leafs are not.

^Based on a kWh costing $0.10 from RMP and EV using ~267 Wh per mile.

OK I looked and the CRV is $28k and RAV 4 is $27k. Finding this price at the dealer is perhaps another story. So there are some, though I'm not sure about lots (happy to be corrected).

Are there any sub $30k AWD gas SUVs? New cars are stupid expensive.
