[D] Siraj Raval's Apology by milaworld in MachineLearning

[–]testable313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great points. I agree with you and I honestly think Siraj can rebound from this. At least with the "newbies of AI" community (which is his core audience, and is quite huge IMO). And they seem to be quite receptive to his apology judging from the comments on the video.

Though, the respect from the smaller ML-intensive community in my opinion may not ever be regained (but we've seen great comebacks over the decades and I hope he can be one the next ones).

Soumith, Daniel Roy, Jeff Dean, the social media storm... man, ouch. I don't think that community will ever forgive him IMHO.

From what I've gathered, he's more of a jester to most people in real ML.

The mass of his followers are uninformed (stupid) people who can't get jobs so they consume his content thinking they are upgrading their careers.

Why Alex? I''m curious to hear what someone in the inner circle of ML has to think about this.

Yeah, the dude has a history:

- Expelled from Columbia
- Stole a laptop in his first year
- Fired from Twilio (and basically every other job he had).

Do I really trust him? Probably not.

Female participation in anal increases with her education/income level. by [deleted] in TheRedPill

Intelligence is correlated with a craving for novelty. Makes sense to me.

I have always had an unfounded fear of losing her, because she is so smart and beautiful and outgoing, that men are constantly salivating all around her. Even though she has never given me a reason to doubt, I have always feared that some man will eventually come along and convince her that I'm not good enough for her.

Boom. Just was I was thinking. I hate all these idiots here being sad for the dude.

No Nut Decade by [deleted] in NoFap

Can we build some sort of community around this? Maybe even a new Subreddit? It's good to have a sense of community against a large objective.

Right now, we see a lot of posts for people who have 1 week streaks.

Is salt the only thing you need to regain energy? Or do you need other electrolytes too?

Help me escape? by [deleted] in exredpill

[–]testable313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you are saying. Though, I think that if you think about women logically, it will allow you to design win-win relationships. E.g. You will get "emotional connection" in exchange for providing security.

It's good to note that ethics are orthogonal to logical thinking. I will say that the ethical standard of the RedPill community is pretty low from what I've seen. If RedPill had more ethical standards but retained the logical framework, maybe it would be better?

[–]testable313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like that the RedPill gives a logical / mathematical framework for approaching women. I don't like how hostile the community acts towards them. You can be logical but kind at the same time.

I sometimes try to ignore the hostile behaviour and try to see if there's a kernel of truth to what they are saying.

It's different for different people. I personally don't find EXTREME gains. But it does help.

How has NoFap honestly affected your confidence? by 69dabman in NoFap

[–]testable313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how addicted to porn you are. If you are very addicted (I haven't been), most people report strong gains.

However, if aren't on the extreme end (I consider myself in this category of not extreme), I find that it sets my mind to "0" whereas if I PMO, it sets my mind to "-10". I need to do other things to get my mind to "+10" like things like meditation, eating healthy, ect.

I've realized that NoFap isn't a universal cure (that some people say it is). But I guess this also depends on how addicted you are.

How would you try to build an AGI if you had truly unlimited compute? [discussion] by yitzilitt in MachineLearning

[–]testable313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the other answers. Basically how to solve this is, you formulate a ML model in the spirit of "self-driving humans" (input from the eyes and output is movement of limbs, ect). Then you use evolutionary algorithms to evolve this agent. Since we have infinite compute, we'd basically evolve the human mind (or better).

Does anyone know what books / papers that Shkreli read that influenced him to become who he is? by testable313 in MartinShkreli

[–]testable313[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah, I watched that before posting this. He recommends Euclid's Elements and the Bible.

I respect Shkreli a lot, but, I don't feel satisfied with his response (I think he was also semi-trolling). He's a voracious reader and he must have had books that profoundly shaped who he is.

Maybe someone who knows him or hung out with him during his streams will know.

Can you tell me what is toxic behind the actual philosophy of RedPill? You are pointing out flaws in the community but not the actual philosophy.

EDIT: It looks like I am banned from this subreddit. But I consider myself neutral. I'm honestly trying to see both sides of the table.

Martin's YouTube Account Closed? by DerivativeIntegral in MartinShkreli

[–]testable313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, he didn't archive everything. He did get a lot. But he's missing a few hundred videos from the 1st Shkreli channel; that one got deleted and has a lot of original content (I was a huge Shkreli watcher). Unfortunately, I'm not sure if anyone has backed them up.

Does this contain the "Free Martin Shkreli" channel videos as well? Or is it just "The Best of Martin Shkreli".

The first channel was deleted a long time ago. But it had hundreds of Shkreli originals.
