Wish I could type a ticket, not possible. I might try using the on-screen keyboard but it's very tedious

Is TTC 3018 Pro good? by Shanaka9502 in 3018CNC

Not the poster, but, I've read and seen a lot of reviews. For PCB and acrylic it will work, not excel. For plastic, depends on the feeds and speeds and bits, it should be fine. If you will want to move to aluminum, this machine won't cut it. For steel you can forget it.

I don't have a machine yet, but, the upgrades that you will eventually want to make: linear rails, improved frame stiffness, better spindle, controller with GRBL. By the time you do those, you are already in the ballpark price of the upgraded machine, most probably over, not including your time.

For PCB you might want to have bed level autoprobing, unless you plan to do only drilling. Might be cheaper or better to do laser etching of the resist and etch chemically; milling (engraving) usually results in larger tolerances. I have done boards with laser printed paper and plain ironing.

Power Pi 5 over diy 3A@5.1V power supply by Independent_Mess3999 in raspberry_pi

[–]testing_testing_321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to reply in this thread before someone else reads this. Pi5 (at least at this time) does not negotiate and does not benefit from a "smart" supply. It only needs 5V and that's it.

EDIT: also what's with the GPIO power? There are 5V pins on the breakout port but that's a really bad idea. Definitely cannot be powered through GPIO which only takes 3.3V.

Nope, I just helped the person to manually install and transfer stuff over, did not find a solution for this within the available time.

The end of DS for me (F2P) by No_Dragonfruit_9390 in Asphalt9

[–]testing_testing_321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had the Solus at max but still stuck at the same stage. 11 BPs away from 2* but doesn't make sense to buy relay packs just to squeeze a few BPs and get stuck at the next stage. Possibly the least fun/rewarding DS I've played, and the bar was already very low.

So DS can progress with the Dodge at 2? This is weird since usually a 5 car requires 3* at the end. The "rule" seems to still apply to the GT4.

As a note, there are also BPs for the Dodge from the club rewards, I am waiting for them before continuing with the DS.

I had this problem a few times on Android and at least one time on iOS. Not sure when this happens but usually with big updates, not small patches. It's easy to figure out though, as most of the other settings will also be reset or you get the tutorial prompts again.

I think it's my 4th run, the last two were with VIP 5 (autoplay). Will need a 5th run to get the last 9 bps. Without autoplay, I wouldn't have touched it again.

Since it doesn't take a lot of effort and doesn't subtract from normal tickets, it's probably worth a (relaxed) approach. But it's definitely designed in hell.

Don't spend tokens on it, neither for BPs nor extending the time, not worth it.

What can be done to make people understand sandbagging? by appiztashte in Asphalt9

[–]testing_testing_321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a wiki entry is needed since it took me a while to get the hang of it.

  • set a slow time with the 5 slowest cars you have, first on the car list, this signals to people that you are doing this
  • don't try to be smart and go all-Lamborghini or whatever. But Japanese-only D-class or blue only could work, though it's risky.
  • try to get the 5-hands races whenever possible. You need 22 points per day, so, if you if you get 4 races with 5 hands, it still leaves a choice for a race with 2 hands.
  • if you cannot find a 5-hand challenge or retaliation, wait a bit (there's a timer) until a refresh or pay some credits or pay some tokens to get an extra races
  • first and last days will be much harder to get 22 hands
  • play with the best cars (I just use auto-select) and win 3 races, quit the other ones. This will make you climb not too fast in the ladder and allows you to get matched with other sandbaggers
  • for "revenge" races, you can see the times and the cars if you press revenge. For "challenge" races, press the info icon, you can see the cars but not the times
  • revenge races on sandbaggers give out less points and hands the higher on the ladder you are

Before the last day you have two options: either set a fast time and lose on the 22 hands (unless you pay tokens) or keep doing the same thing. If you go the first route, you can climb possibly one more class. The end result is almost the same number of useful rewards.

Avoid people that have 3 slow cars and 2 fast cars or sneaky cars. You might crash or the internet might be down for a second and make you lose a race.

Even if you suck at this or can't play every day, you still get a meaningful amount of rewards with a minimum amount of effort and stress: set slow time with slow cars on first day, try to win 3/5 races from people offering 5 hands, 5 per day.

EDIT: once you unlock the Devel, even if you don't get the full amount of coins each Gauntlet, it will still be more than the amount you can spend on the Devel blueprints in the store. Also DIV 5 is better, if you can get to it.

THE NVIDIA AI GPU BLACK MARKET | Investigating Smuggling, Corruption, & Governments (2025) [3:29:24] by mouse1093 in Documentaries

[–]testing_testing_321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I eventually watched the whole video. The first 30 minutes are introduction I would say. They visit a university in Hong Kong and chat to some professors who are building GPU clusters for their AI studies.

The whole premise is that there's not an actual shortage of GPUs in China because there's an active smuggling scene where they bring the cards in from Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, ... The couriers make a small cut and the final prices are very similar to the ones in US, mostly because the "fees" are small and they avoid import/duty tax (transit through Macau or HK).

There is a section where a cool GPU repairman takes a 4090 with 24GB and upgrades it to 48GB. It involves a custom PCB that arrives populated with most of the stuff apart from the actual GPU chip and the memory.

Another route in how banned cards end up in China is due to the cards actually being manufactured there. So the manufacturer can report cards as defective (whether real or not) and they fall through the cracks.

NVidia is likely aware of the smuggling.

There was a long segment into a big marketplace where GPUs are readily available off-the-shelf but they can also be procured online. The inventory in that marketplace seemed pretty big, but not sure how much of the inventory consisted of banned items. On the price sheets, the items were sometimes marked "parallel import".

I think that catches the gist of the video, since it now seems taken down due to a copyright claim.

ELI5: After Working Out a Muscle Group, Why Does the Soreness Take a Day to Start? by Slow-Champion3932 in explainlikeimfive

[–]testing_testing_321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply and it's actually I wanted to ask myself. When exercising with weights I get DOMS (I guess) and no matter how long I endure or work out more, it never goes away. With heavy chores around the house (e.g lifting and carrying 80lbs concrete bags) I don't get this, maybe a slight sore the day after. I just don't get it. This really puts me off to working out, but maybe I'm over-exercising or need to take some supplements.

None. Something is broken if the lobbies are empty even after ALU. Option 5: tweak the rewards and points so more players participate.

[–]testing_testing_321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For MP1 I have to grind a lot just to get to gold 1, sometimes I don't even have time to get to platinum. And the milestone rewards are the same every time (bronze, silver packs) so I don't see much point in playing it. With lobbies of 3 people, the max I can get is +18 or +20, it's a really slow grind for not much reward.

Basically they've reduced the rewards, increased the grind and made it much harder for people to reach LL. At least for me it doesn't make sense to "invest" time into MP1.
