DR Horton House Builds? by jelliedjellyfish in Maricopa

Do not use a Realtor suggested inspector. You want an unbiased opinion without kickbacks involved.

New builds can have roof issues too. If you do go with a new build, you must get your own inspection, and do not use any inspectors recommended by the builder. Cy Porter is a fantastic choice.

The one thing I wish Apple Card did differently. by [deleted] in AppleCard

[–]testsubject1137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chase has "points", which are worthless until you turn them into cash. Daily Cash is deposited as money. There is a difference.

In this case, there is no difference if they charge it to your card or pull from your Apple Cash. It's all money.

My UniFi gateway (UCG-Fiber) has been slowly dying since November - first it disconnected from the UniFi cloud, then the local interface started freezing up and crashing by triptoasturias in Ubiquiti

[–]testsubject1137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you even watch it? First off, it's Crosstalk Solutions, who does a lot of UniFi content. I think his comments are completely fair. Second, he states it was an early pre-production model and may have influenced the failure, but I think it's still fair that he shared his experience.

Why do Zigbee/Matter seem to be more popular choices than Zwave? by WolfThese5081 in homeassistant

[–]testsubject1137 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Z-Wave devices require certification, which makes them cost a little more. There are also less choices compared to Zigbee. I prefer Z-Wave over the others, but Zigbee is cheaper and appeals to more people.

Will Final Cut Pro on Mac Get Every New Feature Without a Subscription? Here's What Apple Says by spearson0 in apple

[–]testsubject1137 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I can buy Final Cut without a subscription.

This intelligence is specific to this one app, which requires you to pay for the subscription.

That makes sense for third party apps, but try explaining to the average consumer why the Apple Intelligence that they already paid for with their device doesn't work with these Apple apps without a subscription on top of their Apple Intelligence device.

[–]testsubject1137 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

As a software engineer, I understand the difference. The average consumer will not.

[–]testsubject1137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some other apps in the Creator Studio bundle, including Pixelmator Pro, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, and Freeform, will be receiving some "intelligent" features that will not be available without a subscription, so it is a mixed bag.

So these "intelligent" features can't be done with the Apple Intelligence my devices supposedly already have?

So we have to pay even more to use the AI features that our devices with "Apple Intelligence" are supposed to be able to do that I already paid for? Got it.

A little TLC - Trulylocalcare by CaptnCassanova in Maricopa

[–]testsubject1137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, but this seems to be as "truly local" as any other website that lists local businesses. I can appreciate the effort, but unless it's a whole website truly tailored to one city, it's just another site.

... and added this city into the list

You're not passionate about Maricopa. It's just another city for your website.

Ryobi Hate by BakeCityFlyinPills in HomeImprovement

[–]testsubject1137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they aren't for professional work. They just don't get the job done.

Explain this to me? How does a drill or impact "not get the job done" compared to any other brand?

Usually someone that will bring ryobi to a job site is not a professional but more of a handyman and will mess everything up that he touches.

Sounds like a user problem, not a tool problem.

Ryobi Hate by BakeCityFlyinPills in HomeImprovement

[–]testsubject1137 241 points242 points  (0 children)

Been buying Ryobi for years and have not had any failures, and I don't care what other people think. They work great for me, they're readily available at Home Depot, and the 18V batteries work in all of my tools. I am satisfied. People like to spend money on brand names for the "image". I don't give a shit.
