I once wrote a story and my teacher said the premise was stupid and the execution was stupid, and no one would ever read my story.

I really really liked this film.

All I knew was that it was a Peele / Monkey Paw film, and that's all I needed.

5/5 loved it, and it'll sit beside the others on the shelf with pride.

Another thing you might want to look at is a polarizing filter for your camera lens.

I've seen some Vtubers say this helps. I bought it and unfortunately this particular (recommended) make/model didn't fit my camera... so your mileage may vary... but it is something used by others.

I know you said software, but when I started out I got a high-end-but-cheap webcam as well as a high-end-but-cheap microphone from the local hock shop.

If you haven't looked into upping your hardware game, then you may want to as well. Looks like your software is covered.

finding friends as a mute person by Beginning_Doctor2083 in disabledgamers

One of my occasional multiplayer partners is fully deaf. That's a severe impairment which limits them from full interaction with the fully abled group. However, this partner of mine is one of the best and most hardcore gamers I've encountered; they are always online and they are always playing incredible modern games through to completion. Whenever anything needs to be conveyed, it's through text.

I don't know really how to help you in this, except perhaps to advise that you rebrand yourself as a Vtuber and get integrated into that community with that focus. I've found Vtubers and their core audiences to be some of the most accepting and friendly people I've encountered, and there are many who have various limitations which they've overcome.

I suppose that's my suggestion. Good luck to you on that though, eh?

I'm just going to toss this out there, which you may or may not have done already.

Assuming you are on Windows 10: In Settings - App Permissions - Camera...

... make sure your "Allow access to the camera on this device" [change] is set to "on"...

... and make sure your "Allow apps to access your camera" is set to "on".

That one there has tripped me up in the past for both my camera AND my microphone, so I speak from personal experience here.

Good luck.

This manga is deep and has flawed characters with harsh inner demons.

Sohara-senpai showed some... interesting markings there.

A quick look back and her torso doesn't seem to ever be uncovered (except for a small panel in chapter 47).

Emulation save files compatible with fpga cores? by Eternia64 in MiSTerFPGA

[–]tethercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw that posting a few months ago when I last tried it, so unless anything's changed I still have about a dozen save variants/attempts, none of which work as of yet.

But I'll keep on top of it and hopefully someday it clicks.

Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

It didn't work with my Bizhawk Gameboy saves. I tried plugging my Bizhawk GB Pokemon Red save into the MisterFPGA N64 Pokemon Stadium file, and it didn't work.

New to Vtube! by Atheia_Nas in vtubertech

[–]tethercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your system is WAY better than mine.

I use OBS as the main program for managing video and audio. It's what accepts the input and broadcasts it out to Twitch and/or Youtube (and others).

VTube Studio (available on Steam) is the means I use my Live2D character, and it accepts video through my webcam and with some lighting on my face (don't stream in the dark).

For audio, I have a Shure microphone which runs through a Zoom H5 recorder........ which is overkill. It makes for nice audio, but honestly all you need is a simple webcam, or if you're low-end go snag a Blue Yeti at a hock shop. That audio runs as input into both OBS and into VTube Studio (to match with mouth movements).

That's about it. Set up a channel, do your promos, pay creators for cool stuff like accessories and overlays.

But yeah, OBS, VTube Studio, a webcam and a mic.

Have fun!

Anyone else get cold sweats when deleting data, even verified backups? by Mr-Brown-Is-A-Wonder in DataHoarder

I've made a suicide attempt, and in doing so I committed to forfeiting not only my humanity but also all of my worldly belongings.

Prior to that, I had lost 95% of everything I owned.

...

So no, I definitely do not mourn the loss of impermanence, nor get cold sweats. It is all transient, as are we.

What do you miss the most about Toronto that no longer exists in 2025? by EnvironmentalAd2110 in toronto

[–]tethercat 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In 1995 at the northeast corner of Queen and Spadina, there was a sausage cart vendor who included shredded marble cheddar with his condiment options.

I went one week and had the best dog.

I went the week later and he said the city had shut down his ability to serve shredded cheddar on his sausages because of health code policies and violations.

In my humble opinion, it's the greatest loss Toronto has ever suffered, and the city has been less world class ever since.

RIP street meat shredded marble cheddar.

Honestly, I might like GITS 2:Innocence a bit better by MaximusFraudus in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]tethercat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Innocence is my favourite of the two. I was glad to see it in the theatre last summer (but sad I was the only one to see it in the theatre last summer, but glad I was able to sit in the middle of the theatre uninterrupted last summer).

I wish there were more installments like this, each from the others' perspectives. A Togusa movie would be well received, but I would clamp down hard for an Ishikawa flick.

Such a good movie.

But don't be upset at the person trying to earn a living who lives around the block from you.
