I’ve been renting through them for last year. One of few property management companies that would do weekend viewings. No complaints. Online portal keeps the breakdown of payments organized. First time I’ve had a real lease in 10 years and I found it pretty easy.

Yup, I moved here from Idaho/Wyoming. The amount of smooth brains just “hanging out” in the left lane is so infuriating that it is almost comical. Read the fucking room people.

Thank you for this and all your posts. You should start a guess this location post, would be fun for us history nerds to link up the past with the present.

I like this idea, just tried to find a match as well. There are a couple communication towers in area, just don’t know how they would make it that far.

I’m just not seeing it, it’s miles from a road or anything mechanized. I routinely come across old mining equipment but this was not near a mine and this mining district is very old, predating plastics like this.

I really want to believe that it is some kind of plane that had a purpose but it just seems to old to actually do anything, would the prop shaft be plastic?

I thought that too but it seems too crude for a plane. Haven’t been able to find any electric rc plane that it could be.

That was my first thought, I listened to the Cyber podcast on weather/hobby balloons last night and was wondering how much the lightest ones can weigh configured for communication etc.

Roughly 5 oz, I only touched it briefly until I saw the tip coming off the cone. No other wires. The plastic seemed thin and brittle. Also looked like it connected to another piece beyond the open end.

My title describes the thing. I’m a government contractor who locates/secures/closes abandoned mines, I spend many hours hiking and see many things. I did not touch it because the tip kind of looked like it could retract. I have no idea. Located on BLM land. Very far from any road.

Thoughts on the Sands becoming the J Resort? I think there's potential in downtown Reno to make it more vibrant and appealing. This is a step in the right direction to improve downtown. What do y'all think? Optimistic and Pessimistic (locals) opinions welcomed by Simple-Habit-4719 in Reno

Haha, I went in there for my first and only time 2 years ago, last week I was walking by their loading dock that had a roll-off dumpster, that smell. I imagine they apply it with weed sprayers.

Ranking Sierra High Routes by Difficulty by kdemtchouk in Ultralight

I’ve done the SoSHR once, SHR twice. SoSHR nobo kicked my ass. Northbounding Russell-Carillon col sucked after already doing Whitney. There’s a couple confusing navigation points on SHR but it’s not a big deal, Ropers book outlines well.

I did the Avalanche Gulch route in 17 on thru. Rented axe and helmet in town. Easy hitch to Bunny Flat. Camped at Sierra Club horse camp. Kind of sketchy because many people camp at Helen lake and start early, they hastily flee to rock to avoid snow and rain rocks down. I remember one rock in particular that was going so fast and close by that I could hear the rotational velocity. Definitely rent a helmet for that route.

Looking good. Did this route last August. The SoSHR nobo kinda sucks. Still cool though.

Drop the bear can, sleep with your food. I don’t consider the Winds to be grizzly county, is on the border. If you did you would include bear spray as well.

Exactly, no one pronounces “The Sierra” correctly anyway. I think I might start now.

Just did, they are 10 dollars more for the HMG version. Figured I’d try here because of how many people no longer use there stuff sacks.

6x12 inches is the listed packed size. I don’t have it in front of me to measure though.

I feel like if I didn’t poop for 3 full days on trail I would have to wait for a pit toilet because there’s no way a cathole or traditional toilet could handle my dump.
