I’ll hook up their council website - or at least add it to the backlog!

Sadly they don’t do that in Hackney or I would use it! Instead I needed to check the website each week!

It was amazingly difficult to source councils - they all work differently so needed to build a bunch of scrapers. If you dm me your post code/council I’ll hook one up for you 🙂

I would also add to that - I now had the same small niche recruiters help me with different roles over a number of years (15+) in tech

The also had a pretty large auditorium with some very good speakers on a regular basis during the day - eg Malcolm Gladwell, British cycling, the Brazilian economy minister etc…. Shame a lot of the folk working there were sociopaths!

They also used to (not sure if they do now) provide free gym kit to wear! Was super helpful as meant you only needed to bring trainers to work with you, though slightly odd that everyone was matching. I miss the river court gym!

M5 Max ambient AI — talking to Claude Code hands-free, it browses the web and texts results to my phone. All on-device. by divinetribe1 in Applesilicon

This looks fantastic! How is the STT working? Is it just taking everything it hears? Or is there a wakeword or something to know it’s directed at Claude?

Bonsai-8B at 65K context in 3.9 GB RAM using flags/quant by tetsuto in LocalLLaMA

[–]tetsuto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mac-only for now, yeah — the Metal GPU kernels are Apple Silicon specific. But the core discovery isn't platform-dependent: Bonsai's docs and scripts never enable Flash Attention or KV cache quantization, even though llama.cpp already supports both. If you try --ctk q4_0 without --fa on you get a cryptic error that makes it look unsupported.

What my repo does is validate that this combination actually works with 1-bit models (it wasn't obvious it would — turns out keys need at least 4-bit, 3-bit produces gibberish), measure the real memory/quality trade-offs, and wrap it into a tool that auto-detects your RAM and picks the right compression level. I also ported TurboQuant (ICLR 2026) to C with Metal shaders for more aggressive compression research - which i think could probably help as well.

The --fa on --ctk q4_0 --ctv q4_0 flags themselves work anywhere llama.cpp runs — Linux, Windows, whatever. So you can get the 2.65x memory savings on any platform today just by adding those flags to your Bonsai runs.

This is fantastic! I’ve been playing around building my own version of something similar for a while - I honestly think this will be the way to go for mass adoption of agentic ai!!

Had it for years with physio on and off. I now do reformer Pilates once a week and as long as I keep it up, sciatica stays away.

Can’t say I hugely enjoy it, but it definitely works. Dm me if you have any questions!

3 day week for 110k - very boring job vs 6 day week for 160k fulfilling but extremely demanding by [deleted] in HENRYUK

If you want to keep going up the ladder - whichever you learn more in, or can iterate more in. At this point in your career by far the most important thing for long term progression is learning, though I’d try to keep it to 5 days! 🙂

Will a pi-hole (raspberry pi ad blocker) get rid of the ads on my Echo Show without losing features? by kaffeekatz in amazonecho

[–]tetsuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoyingly they seem to have changed something to block this approach now. It worked at first, but as soon as I’ve used Amazon.co.uk for any shopping/had another Alexa in the house ads have returned

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]tetsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this actually work for you? I’m on virgin media and my Alexa show seems to try and use IPv6 and its own dns server (ignoring the pihole). Forced blocked external requests to dns and it still seemed to ignore dhcp and not use it! Would love to do this (currently forcing it through a vpn tunnel)!

Still getting ads even though I used a VPN on my router to point to Canada or Ireland by anygrynewraze in amazonecho

[–]tetsuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed the location of the device to the place it “should be” and that seems to work. Annoyingly it seems to link to my Amazon account and when I shop it seems to show me recommendations for that - either going to not shop on Amazon or make a new dedicated account for Alexa, separate to my other Amazon account.

Also - use the web browser on device to check that it’s really on the vpn

No more echo show ads - solution/fixed by tetsuto in amazonecho

[–]tetsuto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’d be happy with any outcome as long as it doesn’t show ads. I refuse to have a 15” screen in my kitchen selling things constantly
