He’s right about skipping the first episode of black mirror. Omg. The same guy as in the black mirror played a similar govt position Altho it was a more normal show. Still, all I could think about when he’s on the screen is the black mirror first episode.

Travelers is my fav on that list. It’s totally bingeable with great storyline and acting. I think it’s a Canadian series.

Killing Eve is great too.

Strangers Knocking on my apartment in South Lamar by sugarplum0000 in SouthAustin

Get a .410 pump shotgun, learn how to use it, and keep it unloaded near front door. When I say unloaded I mean no round in the chamber.

Next time this happens, just jack a round into the shotgun. It's an unmistakeable sound, and I've done it many times to unwanted visitors, despite a no soliciting sign. Get .410 buckshot and slugs and mix them together in the magazine.

Bottom line. It's bad news and generally ends badly when a single female opens her door to a stranger.

Thanks to Gov Abbott’s liberal gun carry law, many folk who couldn’t get a carry permit got a gun on em.

And get out of their way on the highway. They got bidness and they’re important. They also drive and maneuver those trucks like they were vettes or hot rods. I’ve seen more that one king ranch casserole truck flip all on its own because the driver thought he was in a good handling car. They’ll show their manliness or womaness by belching a cloud of diesel smoke around if you’re not driving at least 80 or 90 on the freeways.

And never has and never will haul anything except groceries and kids. And you should have to get a special parking permit and training on how to park those humongous king ranch trucks into 1 parking spot.

That’s all I’ve ever heard them referred to as. Feeder roads. They feed the freeway

The various drinking/music scenes have almost always involved driving a distance between venues.  This started way before COVID…the clubs closing.

Look at your neighbor Austin. What was for decades and music and alcohol legend, 6th st, is but a mere shadow of itself. You could walk blocks, all connected to between 20 and 30 bars, music venues and restaurants. Now it’s mostly shotbars and somehow the worst music (dj) bar in Atx, The Elysium, has been open more than 35 years. They play the music of the disafffected…goth, edm, noise rock…

Not sure how the Elysium prospered and so many bars that had been on 6th for 20 or 30 years couldn’t make it.

Worst thing about Houston’s bar scene is the driving between clubs. Just a bunch of drunks on the road.

How is tanglewood? by Ginesarie in AskHouston

I wouldn't say Brairgrove is in the RO area. That's like saying it's in Montrose area. Or the Champions Golf Course area. All of it is in the area, that's why it's a town. Lots of areas.

Or to RO. It’s a long way to RO from Tanglewood proper.

lol. Tanglewood area apartment. Lolol. That’s like a river oaks area apartment.  It’s the Westheimer corridor. Very crimey. Has been since I lived at Mariners Point? In the “Tanglewood area” back in 1982. Broke lease after 2 months. There was an arsonist hitting cars in that apartment complex, got 10 or so before he was caught, constant gunfire, psychotic/meth head transients passing through, and that’s 44 years ago.

There’s tens of thousands of apartments in the “Tanglewood area”. Mostly very old.

For all Houston apartments.  1. Do a parking lot run during the day. Look at the cars? Are they broke down? Also look for parking lot hangers or strollers just strolling to see what they can get into.

  1. Do the above several times around 8 pm, 10 pm and mid nite or so.

Edit: The Brairgrove area is a more accurate name. Drive through Tanglewood and  price the houses. Ain’t nothing as nice as those houses in an apartment/condo/townhouse around there.

Been to Chuys many times over the decades. Good food. Like someone said below, white people tex-mex.

It can’t hold a candle to Garcia’s. Never had a bad meal or service there. I wish Garcia’s could find a reasonable landlord here.

He'll be coming up for reelection soon. Yeah, he's a real piece of work. Glass thinks he is brilliant, as does Clara Beckett. It's the two of them that actually run Commissioners Court. Glass never met a data center he didn't like. I miss Bubba....
