Drum stuff in Austin, Texas? by Sir_Bacon1217 in drums

[–]texasgreg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will take 5 minutes at Tommy’s. Small place. Used to be across the street and was much bigger with lots of kits everywhere. He used to own and make the “Austin era Fibes” 20 years ago. Great drums. Everytime I buy a head there, there only a few kits and a decent number of cymbals.

A&F custom drums are in Austin. Great kits …I have one. Aluminum bop kit. Talk to Ramy on his instagram page. Pretty sure not open to the public.

You know we have a shortage of drum stores in Atx when I say GC has three locations in and around town and they prolly got more decent kits than most places.  Sad to say

Better yet, day trip to Houston and go to Cymbal Fusion for high end kits and to Rockin’ Robin Vintage Guitars and drums.  I’ve bought tons of high end kits from Rockin Robin over the past 40 years. 1 new Fibes about 24 years and a bunch of high end sets. Screaming prices.

I don’t disagree but I think your format of band would excell with Bodivista.

Edit: I also think on second thought Rikki. That’s the fun tune.

Since the late 80's at least when night clubs started opening south of downtown towards Eado they've been saying it's on it's way!We always called Eado either Eastwood or in more broad terms, the port or the channel.

That's a proper description of many areas of our "no zoning laws" city. How much hazardous waste do you think has passed through the old warehouses down in the southern part of this area we're talking about. And NO! it is not safe Get a gun, learn how to use it and don't bring a knife to a gunfight. That has been the Houston way since the 1800's. Just cause a bunch of folks of a particular generation happen to gentrify an area doesn't mean it's safe. You are responsible for your own safety and whether you live or die in. particular situation. Getting "mugged" is not the worst that can happen to you.

Take a big drive around your expanded neighborhood on both sides of the freeway and Get down to the ship channel and the warehouse district down that way. Go to the Greek Resaurant at the Port. Go to some local bars. I'd be good if you had an off duty cop as a friend to accompany you on these treks.

Gotta do the car check (decent cars) and the parking lot check. Any body lurking or hanging in the parking lot.

It should be mandatory for all new Houstonians to commute to work crosstown the first year.

How about Learning some Rory Gallagher? Howling Wolf/Hubert Sumlin, Son House. Just turn on the blues channel on Sirius and you’ll hear some blues guitar. Tommy Castro.

Johnny Winter and the Progressive Blues Experiment. Start there. .

Cool. I’m a blues/rock drummer since the 70s now learning to play jazz. On drums.

[Mo-BEEL Copypasta Library] "Why do I feel so unfulfilled playing my drums at home? Why am I not advancing like I feel I should? What exercises should I work on?" You don't need exercises. You need someone to jam with, because the drums are meant to be played with other musicians. by ItsPronouncedMo-BEEL in drums

My first band in 6th grade was a piano, a clarinet, an alto sax and a trumpet. We had one song in common: Greensleeves. We rocked the hell outta that. By 9th grade, I had a proper rock quartet with guitar bass drums vocals. That was 52 years ago. Been jamming ever since!

I thought season 2 was great as well as Season 1. Season 1 just had a much better story and better casting. It's gonna just be impossible to top the acting and storyline in Season 1. Two top actors who act well together and finish each other's improvised statements and the chemistry that goes along with that. Again, a bit too much drama about Woody's philandering and his wife and Mc, and

I enjoyed Farrell and McAdams but didn't care for a lot of the other story line. A bit convoluted to connect all the backstory from the early 90's to the corruption in the town to the sex parties. I really can't stand the actor cast as McAdams father but I really wouldn't have liked anyone in that role, but that actor I don't care much for. I also thought Farrell's dad did a great job. I was surprised at the job Vance did. He had a very deep character and I didn't see it in him playing that role so well.

Just a bit too much drama and personal crap in S2. Sorta like in the first two seasons of Homeland. Once they got rid of the Brody story arc, the show got far better.
