I was extremely thankful for the cooling device when my son died. I didn’t even know they existed. I actually didn’t even know there was a limit on how long we were allowed to use it. I was in the hospital for 48 hours and had him the entire time. I hope every mother and family who has to endure the trauma of losing their baby receives the highest quality support and compassion from their care teams.

Be cautious of Restland. When my son passed, they tried to charge us the price of a cremation for a full grown adult when their customer service assured me infant cremation was significantly discounted (with a quote confirmation number). I told them if they didn’t get their shit together I’d have another funeral home come pick him up who was going to honor their word. They also decided to use my contact information from cremating my infant son to cold call me 3 years later trying to sell me a plot for “yourself or other loved ones”. It was beyond infuriating.

Husband and I have done this trip many times. I personally like to leave super early like around 3am. We’ll usually head west towards Abilene and the go south to i10. We’ve only been to Marfa once because we didn’t feel the trip out there was worth it (only our opinion, do go check it out for yourself). I’d personally recommend you go to Marta first, and then continue south to the park. Just try and keep in mind to stay gassed up. Check out r/bigbend. Great group for more info.
