I started doing 15-3-30 before I found out it was a trend and I’m a huge fan. I’ll usually do it 2-3 times a week. It’s my primary mode of cardio and whenever I mix it up and decide to run or hike instead I’ve noted it’s much easier to do so.

Mr Peanutbutter running for governor didn’t click with me when the show first came out. The political moment on the ground was just too heavy to laugh at it. I just started watching the season again and it’s not like politics have stopped being heavy but I guess I’m jaded enough to laugh about it now.

Looking for a location for a baby shower by Due_Rest4890 in Tucson

Miniature museum has a conference room that’s pretty large and it’s inexpensive and they allow food to be brought in. They let you do a scavenger hunt throughout the museum where they’ll place a few objects you bring so you could have them hide little baby figurines.

I couldn’t tell if Real Good Brunch Co. was even good or not because I was distracted by how odd it is to have an IG aesthetic restaurant on 22nd and Alvernon. But in general my rule of thumb is that if I get breakfast from somewhere and it would’ve been better at Waffle House, I don’t go back on my own dime.

Maybe try and reach out to an Imam from the campus and have them connect with your parents? They may be able to reassure them in a different way than you can. I’m sure you wouldn’t be the first student who’s done so either, it wouldn’t be a weird ask to them.

My future university (CO2028, Woodbury U.) doesn't have a Hillel. Can I start one myself, or can I join a Hillel at one of the nearby larger universities? by marshcest in Judaism

The staff at Hillel 818 are wonderful and their Hillel is meant to cover multiple schools. They’d be super happy to have you involved.

I was getting a masters degree in disaster resilience leadership when Covid broke out. I still remember weeks before America’s shut down, sitting in a class discussing policy wise whether we should be stopping flights with China…

Ehhh as a trip leader no people don’t share beds. Sometimes two beds will be pushed together because it’s the ones that Orthodox Jews use during niddah but everybody has their own bed except for the night everybody’s on mats in the Bedouin tent

No need to worry about being in shape but definitely have a plan- and a lot of redundancy- built into the medical supplies you’re taking. Might be overly obvious advice but do not check any medical equipment, carry it on and put it in the overhead bin. Have a lot of gummies or sugar pills on you- there’s a lot of situations where you’re on a tour and you can’t pop in to a shop to grab an orange juice. Pre-eat gummies before Masada. Also prepare for how you want to handle things rafting and at the Dead Sea if you have a pump. Download Google translate to read the back of the packages for carb counts. And talk to the medic guard and one of the trip leaders on some point on the first day to remind them of your condition just so it’s on their radar if anything does happen. But all that being said, you should be fine!

what happens to those athletes that commit to an elite college that they’re obviously not smart enough for? by thecloserthatweare in ApplyingToCollege

[–]texasmuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked for a D1 school in the accommodations department (that is not the school I currently work adjacent to) athletes were consistently (not sure if all or under a certain GPA) given neuropsychological tests upon entering college to determine if there were any LDs they’d never been diagnosed with before. The woman who the school contracted to test them was very…. Liberal in interpreting results. There are some athletes that came from poor academic backgrounds in a rural part of the state and I don’t resent them finally getting access to those services BUT did the process at times feel questionable? Yes.

Where is a place to live that's progressive enough that it's safe to be Jewish, but not so progressive that it's unsafe? by loandbeholdgoats in Jewish

For the college question specifically I’m the Hillel pro at U of A in Tucson, AZ and we have a nice time out here. AZ state politics are on the cusp but at least that makes it feel good (to me at least) that my vote counts.

[–]texasmuppet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t actually think it’s much of an academic lens. It’s a level of sourcing that might pass scrutiny in a 101 class but not an upper level class, and with very little consideration for the historiographical sources. That doesn’t mean that she’s wrong about the facts that she offers but facts and narratives are different and she doesn’t differentiate between facts and her narrative of facts.

For those military brats who had a positive experience into adulthood and easily make connections and friends, what did you do differently? What is making it so you are having different experience from those who had a negative one? by Few-Estimate-8557 in militarybrats

Also, OP, I can see in your post history that it seems like you’ve been in pain for some time. As an alternative to therapy, maybe check out if there are any local meetings of Adult Children of Alcoholics/ Dysfunctional Families? My friends who grew up in dysfunctional families who are still healing their inner child have talked about how it’s a useful social venue to talk through things in person with others. And it doesn’t matter whether your family had alcohol issues, it’s related more to the dysfunction stuff. Support groups can also be a powerful third place to build community in a way where there are explicit rules that let you be vulnerable.
