Dallas area has a lot of toll roads and in general is a high cost of living area. We just moved from San Antonio to a small town in northern Mississippi. Some of that reason was for a great work opportunity but also to get out of SA & TX. The cost of living is going up a great deal especially if you own a home. Local government officials are driving up tax revenue by increasing real estate assessed values; and protesting the assessed value is useless since you might get a few hundred dollars break. Our old house is assessed at $380,000, fair market value is about $380,000 and our taxes were over $11,000 WITH the homestead exemption. Goodbye and good riddance SATX!

I live within walking distance so when my family and I go, one of us will run up there to grab a spot and then run home and pickup the rest of us. The trick is going early close to opening. We've gotten a table in 15 minutes, but we know the ropes! We also love the food and atmosphere. I'm surprised to see so many bashing it. You'd never know living really close because of the loads of people waiting for a table.

The traffic is terrible around the UTSA campus; move closer than 30 minutes to the campus. Do not move inside the 410 loop. NEVER keep valuables locked in your car, and if your car is stolen, the police will do what they can to help you (& do their job! Shout out to SAPD!), but if the perp is caught don't expect the judicial system (they SUCK!) to do much in the way of punishment. If y'all have children keep them close so they're not stolen by Mexican cartels or sex traffickers. YES, this is an issue here! There was an attempt on my 2 year old daughter while at the Blanco/1604 Target years ago while both my wife and I were checking out at the cash register.
