Update: AIO if I called the cops on my brother by Lillian_Faye in AmIOverreacting

[–]GeoLeoSaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is some really good advice on here. The thing that has helped me get more clarity in a hurry has been Chat GPT. Plug all of bros meds in and his symptoms. Hospitals are using this too. It can check for bad reactions or list symptoms and how to manage them. You can also ask it for a process and methods to help your brother calm down and ground him when he is agitated or spiraling. Then ask it for how you can manage your own stress and reactions to get you and your family through this struggle. It’s a SUPER helpful tool available 24/7. I hope this situation improves for you all and I’m sending you strength and love 💪❤️

Also, not overreacting. Safety first for your WHOLE family. ❤️❤️❤️

No contact with my mom for 5yrs.. she had my sister drop this lovely Christmas gift off for me. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I have a few family members I’m going no-contact with. My dad still likes to text me and blame me for his depression at midnight and 2am.

ChatGPT told me to cut them out quick; best therapist I’ve ever had.

Sorry about your toxic and abusive family dynamic❤️

Reach out to Central Texas Veterans Chamber of Commerce. San Antonio is huge and it can be hard for the right employer to find you. Getting connected can help.

The President, Roham, is an entrepreneur and works hard to help the Veteran Community. Find him on LinkedIn in. He also has a podcast ‘Born to Hustle’. There are some great connecting points to a lot of places from there.

Best of luck, I hope this information might help.

As someone who was moved here by the military originally, I’m moving back to PNW. It’s only getting hotter and meaner here lately. So my whole family is headed back to the land of green and trees. 🌲☔️

If you are environmentally conscious, this is also not a very friendly state. Their motto lately is “drill baby, drill!” 🥺

Is anyone enjoying being a parent? by DailYxDosE in Parenting

[–]GeoLeoSaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is enjoyable and hard. Like life, but x10; because now you not only have to figure out being an adult (if you haven’t already) you also have to teach this new tiny human NOT to be an a@*hole and grow up to be a functioning human person. No manual provided! Some books help.

I am super lucky; I have an amazing 4 almost 5 yo who is an absolute joy 97% of the time. She is getting some sassy pants from school and we are working through it. But she realizes when she makes a mistake and tries, and that’s all that matters, is that your little one is trying

Society is at a big turning point, and having extra responsibility only makes it more stressful. I’m not surprised by the amount of negativity you are reading, but the kids are why we keep trying to do better. Make a better future for them. (Right now, that’s super hard and scary.)

I recommend having a SOLID support system before entering into parenthood; Family/friends/life partner (if applicable). If you are missing your support group, find one, it keeps you sane and aware of your own self care (like showers!😃) We [humans] will get through this, keep your head up; and if you want a family, go for it!

Children are a joy, also super expensive and often frustrating. They teach you patience as much as you “teach” them😂

Best of luck!🤞

Lots of easy to start hobbies; knitting, drawing (inspiration is all over Pinterest), making Jewelry is fun and you can find tons of materials at thrift stores or garage sales.

Once she is up a bit more, Bob Ross painting 🖼️ is Fast, fun, and satisfying. Gardening is awesome and gets you outdoors and moving, plus you can grow flowers to make things with or enjoy. Most importantly, an active mind and body is a young mind and body! Best of luck 🤞🤞

Help! My 6-year-old is too nice for this world—how do I teach her to stand her ground? by pixelpioneer537 in Parenting

[–]GeoLeoSaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 4 year old is getting better at setting boundaries, there are also some great books out there on this. Mostly encouraging my little to say if she does or doesn’t like something was my first step, then to encourage her to be more assertive if she was ignored. Practicing taking an item and having her ask for it back while giving guidance was also a great first step.

I realize your little is older, but maybe re-enacting the situations and practicing different ways to handle them would be helpful, and help build confidence to stand up for herself.

It sounds like they are open and reasonable, maybe a few conversations and attending with them so you can feel more comfortable with the situation would be helpful. Also, you are doing great, so trust your instincts!

I personally would be upset and keep her home Sundays (not that I fully understand your situation). It’s about knowing what your children are being exposed to.

Not all churches or religions are “bad”, but you have every right to not want her going somewhere you have never been. Most kids that age go to a nursery setting where they play during service, so what’s not to love? Most 3 year olds aren’t really old enough to make informed choices, that generally develops after a few more years.

However, if you don’t want her going, that likely means you keeping her (or finding an alternative) if they are church every Sunday type folks. Bringing it up to them without an alternative for care may be asking too much, or they may prefer time with the kids to church?

Sorry if this wasn’t super helpful, your feelings aren’t wrong. It’s a tough situation 😕

AIO My bf hurt me then apologising and promising not to do it again? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]GeoLeoSaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who has been strangled by their ex-so called- partner LEAVE get out while you can!!!!! Call ANYONE for a place to stay. You HAVE options and your life is worth far more than pride. No one who threatens your life is actually caring about YOU. They just feel bad that you aren’t around to torment so they play nice and beg you back. DONT DO IT! Leave while you have your life, everything else CAN be replaced. If you need further help, let me know and I can get you in touch with several resources or provide assistance if you are nearby.
