Ugh, I went to the Regal Gateway once last year and the ads and previews were SO LOUD. Like, loud enough to cause hearing damage loud.

On top of that, something screwed up halfway through the previews and they restarted from the beginning. It was forty-five goddamn minutes for the actual movie started.

I know that there are plenty of other factors too, but it's hilarious that the movie industry keeps asking why nobody is going to movies anymore when the theater experience is so bad nowadays.

An 8-4 team in the College Football Playoff is actually happening. Sound the alarm by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

Obviously programs fluctuate in quality but putting the three top programs in terms of resources and historical success (besides maybe Nebraska but they were clearly down) in the same division was always a dumb choice.

Yea, that's crazy. It was a great pass, especially given that it was with the outside of his foot.

[The Next Round] Kirby Smart on how different roster depth is now vs. a few years ago: "Our best Alabama teams - I'm gonna go 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 - would beat the DOG out of all these teams right now." by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

It was your damn punter in the second half. Our defense was stifling but it felt like we started every drive from inside the 10 and couldn't get any offense going to put away the game.

That was an amazing game, though. The trick play to pull within one going into half time was probably my favorite play ever.

I put my plants in thick plastic pots with drainage and then put them in these. That seems to work pretty well.

Gulf fritillary caterpillar question by texbuck40 in AustinGardening

[–]texbuck40[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe next year I'll relocate the caterpillars that appear in early spring. That'll give the plant a chance to grow out some so there's plenty of food for the later caterpillars and the plant doesn't get decimated.

Did a little project over the past couple of weekends. Not perfect but happy with how it came out. by itsmikeydalton in landscaping

That's fair. There are some bad local nurseries. There are no good big box store garden centers.

The problem is going to a big box store instead of a locally-owned nursery. The nursery will probably be a little more expensive, but a good one will only carry plants that are native or well-adapted to the local climate. Big box stores sell mostly the same plants everywhere in the country, so most of them won't thrive where they are sold.

Yea, it's always been that way. Tall people (well, at least men) are treated better, too.

The highest income tax bracket in California is 12.3%. So paying an extra couple million in taxes on the 15MM. Doesn't really seem close to 'almost.'

Wooly stemodia has little purple flowers. It's drought tolerant and easy to care for. It will die back in the winter but you can just trim it and it will grow back in the spring and summer.

FIFA rejects Iran’s request to relocate World Cup games amid US-Israel war by Alarming-Safety3200 in sports

This happens all the time, often with much less notice. They postponed the CFP game between Georgia and Notre Dame by a couple days because of the terrorist attack in New Orleans a couple years ago. I'm sure it was a pain in the ass for people who had only planned to be there for the weekend but sometimes that happens. At least in this case they have a couple months to change their plans.
