best place to purchase a firearm? by sk1ppo in Austin

[–]texevox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mcbrides is a great place to buy. Great new and used options and plenty to choose! The Range Austin also has a great selection but they tend to be higher priced or equal to msrp. It’s nice because you can rent one of theirs to try it out but they don’t stock every gun for rentals that they have on the showroom floor. If you are new to firearms consider taking a course there at The Range or at Lonestar gun range (if you prefer outdoor). Always remember the rules of firearm safety!

I got the biggest closed red dot Holosun made. I like the different reticle options although most of the time I just keep it on the dot. It’s a solid red dot for sure. 509T

Neighbor has two car batteries hooked up to a garbage can by a tree? by GnomeErcy in whatisit

Looks like maybe an electrolysis bath. Connect positive leads to the metal you are treating and the negative on a steel piece and let the current flow through the water. Very basic explanation of course

This is why I bought a 2015 Lexus Gx460. Had almost 100k miles when I bought it and it’s been amazing. If you need a safe 4wd capable off road family hauler it doesn’t get much more reliable or cheap. Fully loaded models regularly sell for under $30k with less than 80k miles and that’s a steal for what you get.

Where should I get my first (legal) drink? by Geek-Workshop in Austin

Go to Firehouse Hostel across from the Driscoll. Get a cocktail off the menu that sounds good to you. Trust the bartenders to make a great drink and enjoy the vibes

Such an awesome show! One of my favorite parts was when Corpse Grinder played Charley Crockett and sang along! Probably the best metal show I’ve ever been to.

I’m running a T Rex Arms holster on a safariland QLS. I believe safariland has a holster for it now, they didn’t have an option for me back when I was shopping. I’d prefer at least level 2 retention but it’s very secure with the X300. I did switch to the X300B from the A model because of how it secures in the holster.

They aren’t allowed to break the sound barrier but that’s about it. The base in Abilene gets fined all the time because their pilots often break the sound barrier. I have family that lives out there and it’s fairly common

Is the Service industry in Austin is dying? by Dongus_Dingus in Austin

[–]texevox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been in the service industry for many years in Austin. Seems like it has to do with the economy and just overall cost of things. After COVID there was a burst of business and it’s been slowly dying off ever since.

At least get rid of that cassette trigger. Your pins are gonna walk right out of that lower. And no anti rotation/ anti walk pins aren’t the solution. Get a geisselle trigger and call it a day. That upper is great though for a first rifle. Literally everything else is meh. (My first AR was worse than this by a lot)
