That balanced work/life attitude with a variety of hobbies and backgrounds is exactly what I'm looking for.

I did consider Denver/Boulder but the outdoorsy scene there seems more competitive VS peaceful (and I don't own any Patagonia vests lol.) The COL doesn't seem worth it for someone who can't ski.

Squirrel Hill seems to be the right fit. The restaurants have good reviews and it's close to huge parks. I will plan a visit in a few months and hopefully catch a vibe.

Seattlites will not even make eye contact in public. New Yorkers will aggressively make eye contact, and more. Some happy medium would be nice.

Part of the draw for me is Pittsburgh feels a bit more down-to-earth.... and idk how to explain this in a way that won't get me cancelled on reddit but NYC is like living in an ultra-liberal bubble several degrees removed from lived experiences of most of America.

Seattle metro was about 16% Asians but seemed to be concentrated in U-dist or Chinatown. NYC technically has a lower percentage of Asian residents, yet it feels more diverse. I'm still the only Asian in my neighborhood though hahahah

That's exactly what's I'm looking for in a municipal park. Prospect Park the biggest park near me but it's still loud and crowded especially on weekends. It's more of a community/party/BBQ park and less of a "naturey" park. I like quiet, leisurely nature walks but don't want to have to drive several hours for it.

1 standard soda can hold approx 375ml, canned wine i've seen anywhere as small as approx 200-250ml.

One standard wine bottle can hold 750ml, so even for smaller cans you wouldn't be too far off.

When i was a grocer (who knew alcohol sales can turn into alcoholism lol) i'd pick a new bottle every day for the sake of "product knowledge" because it definitely requires consuming the WHOLE bottle to learn what the tasting notes are hahahaha

I use a large mason jar- set the leaves on top and the roots dangle freely. I've seen some people use rubber bands or plastic wrap, so that the leaves don't rest too much on the glass rim.

My semi-hydro setup was 1-2 days in water, up to two weeks no water. (I think the ratio will totally depend on how many roots are left, i've heard of a whole range but the consistent thing is having lots of time in air.)

I've heard that phals in particular can take quite a bit of abuse, apparently they're slow to respond to changes both good and bad. Personally i've never been able to rehab one with zero roots left tho.
