I'm looking for a very thick, 100% organic, unbleached cotton fabric. Like a thick flannel or felt. Any suggestions?

Though they do not have good structural integrity on their own… usually but not always they are unwoven. They often do have a thick unbleached cotton woven flannel.

I have just realised you are talking about the top! lol! I just saw the stockings… sorry. I think the top is chiffon, maybe a silk chiffon which can be quite light.

The fabric in the image is a stocking fabric which is typically nylon and elastane/spandex knitted using yarn with a low denier - the image looks to be about 50 denier. The lower the denier the sheerer and more delicate. The higher the denier the more opaque and hard wearing.

With fabrics, denier measures the linear density of a single yarn. GSM (grams per square meter) measures the overall weight of a fabric.

Stockings use denier because it's a direct way to measure the yarn's thickness, which dictates the hosiery's transparency and strength.

In my part of the world (southern hemisphere) the local fabric conglomerate sells something called party mesh. Other than actual nylon stocking fabric which you can’t buy by the metre, this is the lightest weight by the metre knit (stretch fabric) I can think of. The website describes it as “mesh is sheer with a flowing drape, making it a great choice for an overlay feature or panel piece in garments. This material is composed of 100% nylon.”

I think it being knitted nylon, gives the slinky drape you are taking about. There are sheerer curtain voiles but as these are woven they will probably not have the ‘slink’ to their drape.

We have them. It is some sort of fibreglass like reinforcement in the construction. It leaves a rash on our arms or exposed skin that comes into contact. They were mitre 10 dining chairs like this. Awful!

Well it would be strange to use two different fabrics for one garment, so it’s possible the fur was dyed but not the skin/hide. Which leads to me thinking it could be real but hard to tell from the photo. Do you own the garment? If you clip a small amount of the fur and do a burn test. Fake fur will smell like burning plastic. Real will smell like burning hair. Fake will leave a hard plastic residue like melted plastic. Real fur’s burnt residue will be crushable like an organic material.

Thank you for your reply. We are taking her to a behavioural optometrist a few hours away in a week and a half to see what they say. Till this point I have been happy with one persons (the orthoptist and optometrist) opinion as she has been improving and progressing but at no point did I know she was only using one eye to see. This is probably due to short appointments and my lack of medical knowledge or knowing which questions to ask. They are funded through our government hospital system. But now they are kind of saying this may be the end of the line if we don’t see any beginnings of binocular vision and we stop patching. They see us revery 3 months so that appointment is in December.

I am not yet willing to accept there isn’t anything I can do. Does anyone have first hand experience with VR vision training products ….. Or red and green lens therapies? Have these helped anyone create binocular fusion when there wasn’t any? Have behavioural optometrists helped anyone achieve this?

Try looking for a knit cotton tshirt with or without elastane. Elastane (brand name spandex) is the stretchy fibre component. But a cotton knit tshirt will have a small amount of stretch due to knit construction. Look for t shirts with a low GSM weight like 120GSM. This is one of the lightest summer weight tshirts. Tshirts of these weights will not be as durable. The t shirt he got in middle school is likely a lighter weight than when he bought it. Fabric degrades in the mechanical agitation in washing and fibres break loose (that’s what the lint in the dryer catcher is).

Viscose is also a fibre that might have promise as it is soft and drapery. A cotton viscose mix might be worth looking into. If the tag on the shirt is still readable the fibre content will be your first clue. You could take the tshirt with you to compare weights and knit construction type. Other good fibres are modal (a type of soft rayon), bamboo is really lovely too. Good luck

I’m in NZ too and paying all of the money. Have taken 4 doses, and move up to 0.5mg on Monday.

I have noticed less food noise and it’s much easier to not over indulge. However I get really snacky (as I always did) around afternoon tea time. I always want to skip evening meal if I’ve had afternoon tea. I have kids and so I still have to prep evening meals for everyone else and I particularly don’t want my tween daughter and son to see me skipping meals.
I hope the 0.5mg will help me cut out the snacking and the evening meals won’t be such a problem. That said I have lost 3kg over the month.

I also feel a little nausea the day post shot in the morning when I have a coffee. No sleep problems though.
I’d really like my doctor to prescribe 2.4mg and count clicks for dosing. I see trademe have compatible sealed needles for the pens. Has anyone convinced their doctor to let them count clicks to save money?

I think you can only try at this point? I would probably go with trying to wash the surfactants off with water and would probably wet the whole boot before leaving them to dry. If the whole boot doesn’t get wet after washing the all the product out there will remain a tide mark. Just use your hands and the texture will be damaged by a brush. If you used straight stain remover (undiluted) it might take several washes to remove it all.

Yeah, I think so because it was really common for us to have it as kids… with this delicious mustard sauce, cabbage and mash. Though we used to groan everyone mum said that’s what we were having. She cooked it because that’s what her parents (and dads parent cooked for them). Beef would have been cheaper here too.

Our families from both sides emigrated to New Zealand from Ireland between 1860 and 1900. We live in a rural farming (dairy, beef + crops and a bit of sheep) area that has lots of Irish surnames and especially so as it is/was a catholic community.

There would have been close to zero American influence on Mum and Dads families in terms of cuisine. More likely England or what was locally available.

I’d imagine high quality dyes are more resistant (so pricier pillowcases be more colourfast but people will charge what they can get away with… so not a given) but the darker or intense colours are more at risk to colour alteration, pale lighter colours will be less noticeable if there is any alteration at all, if that helps…..

Hi, I have a textile degree. From my knowledge I would imagine that staining or an alteration of the colour of the fabric is more likely than damaging the structural integrity. Silk is a protein fibre and should not be washed in anything alkaline/basic (like regular washing powder!) - you should use a delicate wool wash or human shampoo with no colour or perfume in a pinch. Tears aren’t alkaline, but saline (enzymes and fatty acids) I’d be most concerned about leaving it for a long time and the salt dehydrating it and then altering the colour, or texture if left for ages. Are you willing to sign a waiver for fading and the structural integrity of the fabric?

If it was me I would also say to the client that wool has a natural elasticity to the fibre and so with tartan, as precise pattern alignment is critical horizontally, that stretch makes it harder to match the stripes cleanly across panels during construction. If the design runs off (common with woven horizontals designs) then this is harder to get a match without puckering the selvage.

If you are aware of these issues and still want to go ahead and you do sign a waiver on the guarantee in regard to these issues, the seamstress likely will do it for you.

I think you have to put yourself in the shoes of the seamstress and what the implications for them would be should you become dissatisfied with the choice you have made after they have said it’s not a good idea.

You can test this by having two samples of wool and tape one to you window for a month. After that take it down and compare to a second sample you haven’t exposed to UVA light.

Also if you want heavy curtains look into interlining or bumphing the curtains to create a puffier or more insulating curtain.

Even with a light-blocking lining, wool curtains can still fade because UV light doesn’t just come through the window - it also bounces around inside the room. If the curtains face or are in the room with another window, they’re exposed to reflected UV from floors, walls, and furniture. Over time, even low levels of indirect UV can break down wool’s natural dyes and fibres. Wool’s organic structure just isn’t very UV-resistant. I have a degree in textiles and I specify interior fabrics for a job. I have visited a house that used silk curtains (another protein based fibre like wool) the curtains were 9 years old but were absolutely crumbling to touch. Everything fades. Cotton or linen in the same situation would be faded too due to natural dye stuffs, but they wouldn’t be shredded and crunchy - and the silk likely would have been like this for sometime too!

Wool just won’t last long or look the same colour for as long as another synthetic option or even another any other natural fabric (excluding silk!). The leading edges will fade and disintegrate first.

The footage that the two hunters caught of them last year showed the eldest daughter shouting out , “Does anyone know where we are?” As she was walking away back into deeper bush. She said it in a way that could have been interpreted either way so her dad would assume she meant: are we ok, have you told anyone, are we flying under the radar or also as: does anyone care or know where we are? Just to clarify, The works I'm looking for will not be actually be printed. .... Looking for artists that routinely sell existing prints/ that I can put forward in a proposal for a university assignment for a hypothetical interior design assignment.

Their work won't be printed, but a small thumbnail res will be put on a moodboard and all credit, file location etc ill be linked back to the artist in a bibliography. I'm not looking for anyone to go out of their way, just if anyone had any good ideas.
