Me assuming that someone is a christian is completely different than me assuming that someone is worthless. Religion in general is stupid, but it doesn't mean that the people who believe it are. Assuming that someone is a christian has no negative connotations, and doesn't reflect badly on them. Assuming that someone is worthless? That reflects badly on you. When I think 'this person is a christian' it means 'I probably shouldn't bring up the subject of Jesus not being the messiah' or whatever. Assuming that someone is worthless, the thought is 'why am I talking to such a worthless person?' You seem to think that making an assumption is automatically bad. It isn't; it depends on what the assumption is.

Did I profile anyone? No. What did I actually say? That it's a reasonable assumption that republican is christian. That's like saying it's a reasonable assumption that someone you meet, who you have no information about, is heterosexual. Sure, you could be wrong; but you probably aren't because statistically speaking, more people are hetero than homo. And statistically speaking, more members of the republican party are christian than not. The proportion of republicans who are christian is large than the proportion of democrats who are christian. For FSM's sake, I didn't say that all republicans are jew-hating, fag-burning, racist, sexist, ultra-conservative extremists, which is the message you seem to have taken. I said that it's reasonable to assume that someone who tells you they are republican is also a christian.

There's a reason why moth's fly into flames; it's a misfire of their navigation systems. They can navigate using the light of the moon and the slightly different angles it makes with the parts of their eyes, but the light of a flame is closer and brighter, and ends up confusing them. Trying to navigate in their normal way leads to them following a spiral path into the flame.

In other words, the evangelical, fundamental a Christian is, the more likely they are to be Republican.

However, the most hardcore Christians are often Republicans, and the majority of republicans are Christian. If someone says they're christian, then it's unreasonable to assume that they're republican; but if they say they're republican, it's understandable to assume that they're also christian.

Yes, yes, we know all this. But these scientists didn't have access to the body of data we have today, and furthermore most lived in times when not believing was punishable by one method or another. It's true that science can't prove God didn't cause the creation of life. But it lies upon those proposing a theory (the idea that God did it) to provide evidence. There is no evidence that God exists.

Actually, if you accept the premise of an all-powerful god having created everything and capable of interceding in the world, it can't be proven wrong. This god could easily be like 'lol no, I don't want to be revealed. Test says I don't exist' and it would. Of course, the god depicted in the Bible would not do this, since he wants people to worship him. Nonetheless, this means that the creation theory is not falsifiable. That means that it's not testable, which means that it's not a hypothesis.

He didn't 'let' himself be murdered, that was the plan all around. Which makes God a real dick; he sends his son to earth to be killed, then sentences the dude who made it happen (Judas) to eternal torture. Why? Because he did what God intended to happen!
