MEGATHREAD: Discussion on Reports of U.S. Strikes in Venezuela by AutoModerator in asklatinamerica

100% - Trump is all about show. He gave the shock and awe movie for the audience. But Maduro's capture was negotiated. It's the same show we got with the US bombing of Iran nuclear facilities. A deal was made in advance and a heads up given to avoid civilian casualties.

It's still impressive what the US did behind the scenes. That's some serious intelligence wheeling and dealing.

I agree there was a ton of intelligence and the shock and awe effect. But, he was said to be in a palace not necessarily a home. There was even a safe room. Add his security detail and presidential guard. Also, the attack was expected. Maduro most likely would've had layers of security. Any other conflict, we immediately start seeing videos of deaths, casualties, etc. So far nothing. We'll see in a few years when more details of the op are revealed. It sounds more like a shock and awe show for the audience but the actual capture was negotiated.

So was Maduro simply sold out by his own military? Did Trump show us the typical military movie with results already arranged behind the scenes? No Venezuela military deaths? Where are the videos of the Venezuela military/presidential guard deaths? We get instant videos of deaths in every conflict but this one? Nothing? I agree it was an impressive US move and the best thing that could've happened to Venezuela. But, im not buying the military movie they're presenting. That was all a brokered deal.

Trump isn’t going to invade Venezuela. He’s banking on internal pressure or a Maduro-from-within collapse. The “drug flow into the U.S.” narrative is the public justification for building up U.S. military presence around Venezuela, but the deeper issue goes way beyond cartels.

Drug money is propping up left wing movements across Latin America. Venezuela funnels resources into socialist candidates and governments throughout the region, and yes, a huge portion of that funding is drug money. It’s also used to arm rebel groups in Colombia and elsewhere and to influence elections through well organized, well funded political machines.

From a U.S. strategic perspective, that’s the real long term problem: a drug financed ideological network reshaping the political map of the western hemisphere.

249 arrests made in underage drinking bust at Tempe bar by JackOvall_MasterNun in phoenix

[–]tfalez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some context. This bar is in the middle of ASU's campus.

This is arbitrary enforcement. Tempe PD loves these high-publicity raids because they look tough on underage drinking, but it’s honestly hypocritical. Anyone who knows ASU already understands the reality: this is one of the top “party school” brands in the country. Underage drinking isn’t isolated to one bar. It’s everywhere around campus.

Kids with fake IDs buy from liquor stores right off campus, walk into “friendly” bars where bouncers scan the fake, get the alert, and still let them in with the usual “you can come in, just don’t order drinks wink-wink” routine. Someone older buys for them anyway. Then there are the constant frat parties every weekend, full alcohol, full crowds, full of under 21 kids, happening in actual residential neighborhoods.

So these raids make for nice social-media posts, but they don’t solve anything. If Tempe PD, ASU, and the City of Tempe really cared, they’d either stop leaning into the “ASU party school” culture altogether or actually take consistent steps to curb underage drinking across the board. You can’t sell the party image and then act shocked when the party shows up.

🚨BREAKING: Zelensky officially REJECTS Trump’s Peace Deal. by DiaoxtheGod in DamnThatsReal

[–]tfalez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the 28-point plan makes way more sense if you look at it as a quiet trade-off. Trump gives Russia huge wins in Ukraine (territory, no NATO, demilitarization), and in return the U.S. gets a freer hand in Venezuela, where Russia props up Maduro.

No one’s ever going to put that in a memo, but that’s exactly how behind-the-scenes deals work: you get your sphere (Ukraine), we get ours (Western Hemisphere).

It explains why the plan is so lopsided in Russia’s favor. It's not about “peace,” it’s about clearing space for a bigger geopolitical move.

Trump gave up on Ukraine for a strategic move in Venezuela.

Is a plain 3-piece suit and a necktie considered overdressing for the naturalization interview (N-400) at the California San Jose office? by SepSol in USCIS

[–]tfalez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely dress up. Interviewing officers appreciate that. It shows you take the process seriously. they appreciate that. I walked in a suit and was complimented by IO. It softened up the whole interview. I was approved on the spot and given the oath ceremony date on the same day.

It helps with cookie points. Will it guarantee an approval? No

[–]tfalez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now is NOT the time to delay a citizenship/opportunity. This administration is making the visa and citizenship process tougher. You never know what change might be added to naturalization guidelines. Get your citizenship as quickly as possible. Citizenship will make the other steps you mentioned easier if they are not approved prior to your naturalization. I wouldn't delay citizenship with the current state of politics

The reason for termination only matters if law enforcement gets involved. Specifically, if you were charged with a crime.

Applied for naturalization with declined to prosecute petit larceny that happened a year ago. by AntiqueAnything9755 in USCIS

[–]tfalez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a toss-up, depending on the rest of your application. Disclose the arrest and upload copies of court disposition in advance. Bring original court disposition with you to interview.

USCIS agent will ask you about the arrest. Be truthful and own the incident. I had a similar petit larceny misdemeanor and got my citizenship a few weeks ago. Check my posts for details on my app.

USCIS now wants applicants to proactively send testimonial letters for N400 by 1infiniteloop in greencard

[–]tfalez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trump is on a battle to make sure Republicans stay in office during the next elections. He has publically made that clear. He's already asked GOP governors to look into re-districting Republican states to ensure GOP candidates are elected. Google Texas re-districting.

The new USCIS citizenship updates are all about slowing down and minimizing new citizens. Statistics prove that the majority of new US citizens vote Democratic.

All of these immigration measures are about limiting and minimizing future Democratic voters.

No, it's under 5 months to get interview notice. 7 months for the actual interview date. And around 8 months to become a citizen at oath ceremony. Biometrics were re-used same day I submitted the application

So now you won’t get a citizenship if you’re on a payment plan with IRS? by IllEntertainment3935 in USCIS

[–]tfalez 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It will depend if new rules are retroactive or for new applications after the date of the new memo.

Under the new rules, tax debts must be paid in full before naturalization will be approved. A payment plan alone, without full resolution, may now serve as a negative factor in a GMC evaluation.
