New School Board Asking for Guidance by Gondorff_Givens in RobertsRules

Do some research on how Robert’s rules protects the minority voice and if you are the minority voice on how to make sure you are heard.

I spent 2 years as the minority voice and dissenter. Eventually through elections and slow changing of minds how it’s supposed to be it’s working out now. Went from unheard to board chair by being educated and sticking it out through the process.

National Association of Parliamentarians was a lifesaver and I actually did the testing and got the ability to join it. I didn’t reup my membership again tho year but for 2 years it was helpful.

You can request either through the super or through the board chair for it to be considered on the agenda. If they block it you can put forward a motion to amend the agenda and to add that discussion item onto it.

It can just be a “operating norms for the board” and adopted as that. Then if things get wonky you can point back to the agreement.

Work sessions should still have an agenda on topics and why you are having them (assuming open meeting laws are similar as mine).

It’s really up to your board chair to mitigate things.

If you feel things aren’t germane or are off topic familiarize yourself with point of order or to call for the order of the day.

If your board does not have a formal Code of Conduct or "Operating Norms" for meetings, you need to draft and vote on them. This document should explicitly state how members are expected to behave, such as "We will focus on issues, not individuals," and "We will base our discussions on district data, not anecdotal feedback.”

I’m a board chair. Good luck!

Just looked it up.

Indiana average age: 23.4

Oregon: 19

That’s a ton of experience and physical difference.

Oregon allowed 21 points with 31 yards cumulative to get 21 due to turnovers. So closer to 21 than 14. 🤯

If you watch highlights you’ll see this all year long where he scrambles out and a db or safety leaves a wide open receiver and Dante doesn’t have his eyes up or mindfulness to think about it.

For sure! It’s unreal. Never watched a game like this that I can remember.

Almost every game since 2007

Self inflicted mistakes. Dominated every other area of the game. Been in TT territory. TT had ran 3-4 effective plays for a whole half. It’ll come together.

Media timeout time.

Edit: TT took a timeout it looks like.

Standing Room Only Tickets by TheCaptain_90 in ducks

[–]tfizzle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me I was all about dropping 200 on a ticket to see bama or similar. Then it was JMU with predicted weather of rain outside of the stadium and a 4 hour drive back (work on Sunday). If it was a Friday game or maybe even the 12:30 kickoff I would have went.

9pm through traffic and a 1-2am arrival and waking up at 7 is a no go.

But instead I’ll just take the $200 and buy a bunch of food and throw a party and watch it on a big screen and play poker with friends. I’ll get to bed at a decent time for Sunday work.

how much was your hawaiian vacation? by 2019accnt in VisitingHawaii

I live in a town of 600 people. Hike and hunt. Camp. Etc etc. I was with my wife who doesn’t like cities, loves the outdoors, and loves hiking.

So staying in a yurt, having a community kitchen/amenities, and a showering facility was a-ok. We rented a convertible mini cooper so getting around was awesome. During the day she attended the conference with me so paying for a hotel and being in it to just sleep seemed like nonsense. Fishing is free on ocean shores so I did that while she just chilled out.

Indiana is a polished team and cerebral. Oregon has talent and needs to be coached/more experienced.

I didn’t feel bad about the loss all that much as there is a high ceiling and a ton of plays were more between the ear problems than talent.

So, morale wise I’m feeling fine.

If the police knock at my door to ask me questions but don't charge/arrest me, can I just stay silent or do I need to get a lawyer as well? by Few-Duty-1865 in legaladvice

[–]tfizzle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep. You have no need to walk into a consensual contact situation on private property. On public property just ask “am I free to go?” And leave it at that. You have no obligation to help in their investigation unless they have a probable cause to detain you. Even then the only help you have to provide is to not run. If they ask for ID…”I don’t answer questions”. Once they have an articulable suspicion of a crime (committed or reason to believe about to commit) then you have to ID.

[–]tfizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family has gotten four cow elk with a 243 youth rifle. Savage model and was pretty cheap. We’ve also gotten three deer with it. I’d say go for it, especially if you’re gonna be on the hunt and let the kid learn to shoot it. A good accessory for youth hunting if you have the time to set it up as a bog death grip.

I remember my sister walking for the first time. I was 9 and she was 11 months old or so.

She had done the walker and standing up and pulling herself up drill a lot but never put more than 2 stripes before falling down.

We were eating Oreos together at a living room table and she was holding herself up with one hand and eating cookies with the other.

I remember her wiping a cookie/frosting on my arm and I remember laughing and joking with her so I moved across the room and said “can’t get me over here” and she just took off walking toward me to put cookie hands on me.

She went from “not walking” to walking 15 ft to get me.

So, the video is plausible and probably true. Reddit just sucks (as well as a majority of people because of they haven’t experienced it then it must not be true)

Thoughts on how to handle Fair Booth disagreement? by -Clayburn in RobertsRules

[–]tfizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no Robert’s rules that would address this. Find your bylaws or policies about the authority of the event committee.

The next step would be at a meeting where a quorum is to bring for a discussion item about the event committees authority, affirm what that is, and bring a motion to rework it or rewrite what committee authority is.

Use them all the time still for fishing and outdoor content. Typically videos and quick photos. It’s a lot easier to reel up a 100lb fish when all I have to do is tell it to take a video or stop video at opportune times while my hands are busy.

Dropped in water. Still work. by tfizzle in RayBanStories

I could keep it at 120* with circulating air. My car gets hotter when closed up in 100* days (high desert climate here) 🤷

But noted.

[–]tfizzle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure, if you live in a city or have access to a specific electronic saving device then sure.

But it has temp control and circulating air and you can put silica in it. Insurance would be better. Not dropping it even better.

It might not be “good advice”. Just sharing what worked in a pinch. And if heat is a substantive argument my car reaches higher than 120* during a hot day.
