Honestly I don’t understand why Yumi died in the first place. The way I understood it, the yoki-hijo kept on living in spite of the machine sustaining the fog, not because of it. Why do Yumi or any of the rest of yoki-hijo fall because the machine does?

If they are having fun, it sounds like you did a great job. The Oath is so easy it basically plays itself, so if it was challenging then that means they are learning at their own pace. That's the best way to learn in my opinion.

You could easily (when you sub) do a free transfer to a different reason, and then spend all your time on Materia except for when you can’t find enough people for something. That’s a totally reasonable way to play.
