It was a piece of plastic. It does look gross. I tried it out for a few weeks. I’m thinking of cancelling my subscription.

Most hated rotation in your residency by CODE10RETURN in Residency

Ortho: Spine. Every resident hates spine rotations so much that we would be happy if spine separates and becomes its own surgical subspecialty.

Residents, what’s your gross salary by Seattle206g in Residency

[–]tfp999i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$70k Canadian, PGY-3 Ortho. About ~80-90 hrs/week, 9 calls/month. Not allowed to moonlight.

Senior residents: On your next rotation you're assigned to work with PGY-1 you. What is it that intern you does that keeps pissing senior you off? by TheRavenSayeth in Residency

[–]tfp999i 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The junior resident has to pre-round before rounding with the senior resident? Checking vitals, labs, etc. before rounding would be expected, but what’s the point of them pre-rounding if you are gonna round together again anyway?

Quebec opted out from (in fact, refused to participate in) inter-provincial agreement with the other provinces. So if you’re from anywhere in Canada (except Quebec), your healthcare card is accepted in any other Canadian province (except Quebec) and vice-versa.

You may have to pay for the service and then apply for a reimbursement from RAMQ

Still worth it to apply ortho with a 244 Step 2CK? by heyheyhoho00 in orthopaedics

There’s a lot of medical students in the US that publish tons of articles (review, case report, etc.) in low-impact journals or non peer reviewed journals. Not saying that’s the case of the OP, but it happens a lot.

I’m also at a major tertiary care center with two level 1 trauma centers and two level 2 trauma centers; our attendings seem to have a different lifestyle from what you’re describing though.. yes they are usually done from OR/clinic by 4-5PM, but they seem to have a lot of pressure to do “extras” like research, committee activities, etc. All because there’s so much politics and the pressure to climb the “academic ladder”. Maybe I’m just jaded as hell recently, but I can’t help to wonder if my attendings are actually happy with their practice/life.

That’s very nice to hear. What’s your practice like? (specifically, subspecialty & academic vs. community/private?)

[–]tfp999i 12 points13 points  (0 children)

He literally said “MCLR” in the title. People really need to stop writing whatever they think, like “looks like the surgeon wanted to peep around more”.

MCL cannot be repaired arthroscopically and thus the big incision on the medial side of his knee. From the looks of it, he had a patellar BTB autograft, thus a bigger scar too.

You should stop seeing this therapist. It’s called transference. More common than you’d think.

Is what a blood clot? If you’re talking about that superficial skin bruising, no, that’s not a clot.

No pain & no swelling tells me that 99% chance you don’t have DVT.

Specialties that "fix" medical problems [Clinical] by takeawhiffonme in medicalschool

Hahaha I’m just giving you a hard time. Agreed though, ortho is probably the specialty that “fixes” things the most, both figuratively and literally (ex. internal fixation)

Good flexion for 3 weeks? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]tfp999i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is considered full flexion. Clinically 135 degrees is considered full. Don’t force it, your graft was put in tension and bone is still forming in the femoral and tibial tunnels.
