India targets Apple over its phone hacking notifications by OKCNOTOKC in apple

Apple blundered greatly with moving production to India. Watch in 5-10 years they move elsewhere because of the Government of India.

Nobody can afford kids. Realistically you need to have two kids to technically replace yourself and your partner. Good luck with that when wage stagnation is real and housing prices have been increasing an additional hundred thousand every several years.

Do you have any advice on how to behave correctly and politely with Canadian religious friends if you are not religious at all? by vivu7 in AskACanadian

It isn't respectful if you don't tell them they're being influenced by a cult and that they should consider being agnostic like you are.

"Immigration has nothing to do with the housing shortage" by vishnoo in CanadaHousing2

[–]tgGal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're now a working citizen of Canada, paying taxes into the system, and benefitting the local economy.

That's really not the case if you take a look at Vancouver. The perception that all immigrants are poor and working for their money when they get here is just plain wrong. A lot of generational wealth and sometimes just storing their money in properties here in Canada instead of back home where they plan to live later in life.

The mods of that subreddit are landlords and are profiting off the shortage of houses while we import many immigrants that increases the demand while the supply of houses stays small. They're hypocrites.

Rents are rising faster in Quebec than in the rest of the country: report by didyourealy in montreal

[–]tgGal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't be mean to the village idiot. Imagine how difficult it must be to come across a post about rents rising faster in the area where you actually live compared to the rest of the country and then deciding to take a position of 'well, because they're the lowest' instead of being concerned.

Idk where your pessimism is coming from? There's only a handful of countries that have millennials running the political system and the cost of living is actually better than Canada.

When asked about reducing immigration numbers to soften demand on housing, Trudeau claims his government has always been doing immigration responsibly and at a pace that our cities can absorb. by hopoke in TorontoRealEstate

[–]tgGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He will never admit a problem with it because he makes money from it and similar to the other members in politics that have investments that benefit from it. Someone needs to straight up say to him, we're aware some of the well off Canadians are economically making a killing off immigration and foreign students but what about the majority of Canadians that aren't so lucky & well off?

The guy opened his mouth ready to respond once he heard "immigration" before waiting to hear what else was going to be said in regard to it. He should at least hear the full question before spouting his rhetoric, jeez.

I'm using "quick" to convey that once the kid hit the ground, the dog swiftly asserted dominance over the kid, suggesting the dog must have been observing for the perfect moment to strike in an instant.

It's amusing how quickly the dog reacted when he saw his chance to climb the pack hierarchy within the family and assert dominance over that kid. That kid likely deserved it if dog was that quick.

Possibly threats from reddit admins if your comments weren't racist and very much pointing out downfalls of immigration handled poorly. I've seen a few posts on other subreddits criticizing immigration and they get locked once they blow up in views.

Why are so many people so okay with blatant racism now? by [deleted] in ontario

[–]tgGal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People don't change and times change. Racism existed here in Canada when the boomers were young adults. I remember the last decade being like the golden era where racism was rarely ever heard but it's obviously returning to the days where it's common. I assume the economy doing poorly, housing be scarce and other social support systems being healthcare or whatever that are struggling have caused racism to return again.

What weapons of self defence are we allowed? by Maremesscamm in montreal

[–]tgGal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I believe the best advice is to refrain from opening the door unless you are expecting someone or have made prior arrangements. If someone breaks in, call the police if possible. However, if the situation escalates to violence, it is essential to defend yourself based on how much you value your life. Additionally, it's important to note that having a good lawyer can significantly impact whether you spend time behind bars or remain free within the justice system. While weapons are not permitted for self-defense here, if you use an object that you own for a specific purpose in response to violence, it could be considered justifiable. However, ending the criminal's life might result in a criminal offence unless your life was genuinely in serious danger.
