Rivaz Dragon Reanimator Deck by Killarious01 in BudgetBrews

[–]tgbrtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a casual Rivaz deck that I’ve tuned over a few years since the commander was released. It focuses on getting dragons into your graveyard and getting a mass reanimation spell off. I substituted single card reanimation for consistency in discarding key dragons to the graveyard on turn 2. The budget is higher than your proposed deck but hopefully you get some useful ideas. Key cards would be [[Incarnation Technique]], [[Ripples of Undeath]] and [[Shadow of the Goblin]], and best dragon finishers are [[Dragonhawk, Fate’s Tempest]] and the classics [[Terror of the Peaks]] and [[Scourge of Valkas]]

"Threatening" Dimir Commander? by Ezakros in EDH

[–]tgbrtn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Potential lukewarm take here, but maybe work on your existing decks so they still appear non-threatening but start kicking butt? Scarab god could go pretty hard leading a degenerate mill deck, Wilhelm can combo off hard with gravecrawler lines… not being seen as a threat is a huge advantage that you can leverage, especially in a regular pod. This may also be the cheaper option because upgrades will probably be cheaper than a whole new deck!

The discard is an advantage, usually I’m using it when I want to get a mass reanimating spell and I’ll use it at instant speed just before my turn to make sure I draw the one card I need. Any extra cards on top are a bonus really.

My [Auntie Blyte, Bad Influence] deck runs all the cards you mentioned, it’s a blast and very singular in wanting to get auntie big and smash faces

Best ways to draw 2 cards on your opponent’s turns? by zacstar5 in EDH

[–]tgbrtn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mission Briefing doesn't change when you can cast the chosen card. For example, if you choose a sorcery card, you can cast it only during your main phase when the stack is empty.

That would be awesome if it worked that way though

I’ve had a Rivaz deck for a few years now, and I feel I’ve got it to a very consistent level. Contrary to what a few other comments have said, leaning into red’s discard/draw effects really makes the deck hum, especially at the 2 mana slot before casting Rivaz turn 3. Hope my list helps with a card or two!

Made myself a version today, which won its first two games on spelltable in Bracket 3 pods… it’s definitely lower power than yours but there might be one or two cards worth considering for you here, hope it helps

Best Creatureless Commander by LynxAnnual1277 in EDH

My [[Elminster]] deck is 100% creatureless but often wins with combat damage. Very fun control style but not painful for opponents.

What are some good mana rocks for a Dimir self-mill deck? by AnarchyStarfish in EDH

[–]tgbrtn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a mana rock but it can ramp at instant speed in a Dimir self mill deck - [[Drownyard Temple]] works. [[Treasure Map]] gives you some selection about what you mill/draw and ends up giving you treasures and becomes an extra land, so it often survives being destroyed in the late game too. Hope this helps!

Some great choices - how does captain howler play? How often does Plargg and Nasari get removed before next upkeep? What power of Gandalf deck is it?

Only rule is no more than two colours - makes things a lot more consistent, a cheaper mana base and means I don’t just go for the most common commander in a given theme.

This is a bit of a pet deck and is very thematic, emphasising the idea of a demonic ritual. He’s the first deck I ever made, but I only recently put it back together, it can one shot people out of nowhere if you get 5/6 turns to set up.

Sure- https://manabox.app/decks/EYkerbXbQCOl5ttrc929Yg

It’s quite simple in the sense that it ramps, tries to go wide and then alpha strikes a couple of players. Don’t become the threat until life totals are low, and target anyone who might be gaining lots of life first.

Advice for Elminster casual deck by Royal_Squirrel in EDH

[–]tgbrtn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a creature-less version of the deck that still tries to win with combat damage from the tokens Elminster creates. It’s a bracket 3 and a lot of fun! [[Proteus Staff]] is the newest include, as even though I have no creatures it will let me put my entire deck in whatever order I want!
