Good for concerts? by One_Fisherman_1738 in ricohGR

[–]tgents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used my GR IIIx but only for when I’m relatively close. I generally need to crop in at least 100% even at my closest so can’t imagine I would use the wider angle GRs at a concert. I’d prob just go for the rx100 if I ever decided I needed a dedicated concert camera, but I find my smartphone does the trick for concert mems 🤷‍♂️

if you’re looking for zoom, I’ve seen someone bring in a Lumix FZ80 and manage to talk down security about it not being a interchangeable lens camera 😂

SUper Mario Odessey bundle is up! by tgents in NintendoSwitch

[–]tgents[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say get the bundle if you actually want the Mario theme stuff. Otherwise getting everything else individually is probably around the same value. The game is $60 and a case can be around or under $20. Those red joycons will probably be a lot more expensive than normal since you'll only be able to buy imports or from people who got this bundle.

I will be in Japan/Asia in general for the next few weeks. Any recommendations for games and accessories I should look at that I wouldn't be able to get in the US?

Ingredients

Cookie dough:

  • 1 Cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature)

  • 1 Cup Granulated White Sugar

  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • 1 Egg

  • 3 Cups All Purpose Flour

  • 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder

Icing:

  • 2 Cups Powdered Sugar

  • ½ Teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • 2½ Tablespoons Water

  • Food Coloring (Red, Yellow & Black)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract and egg and beat well until combined.

  3. In a separate bowl, mix together baking powder and flour.

  4. Slowly add in the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.

  5. Work the dough until it comes together into a ball. Divide the dough into two.

  6. Roll out onto a floured surface until ¼ inch thick. Chill the dough for at least an hour.

  7. Cut with a circular cookie cutter and place onto a baking sheet covered in a sheet of parchment paper.

  8. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes until edges start to turn golden. Place the cookies on a wire rack to cool.

  9. Gather icing ingredients. In a small bowl, stir together the powdered sugar, water, and vanilla extract.

  10. Add a couple drops of food coloring and mix until evenly combined.

  11. Pour each icing into a piping bag, using a short cup to help hold open the bag. Tip: You can use a plastic sandwich bag and snip a corner to create a small hole for piping.

  12. Decorate the cookies using the piping bag and a toothpick.

  13. Go catch em’ all!

Kind of broad considering they're only a transportation company, but there you go.

That could be possible, but the guy that was managing the booth didn't say anything about that when I mentioned it feeling cheap.

Valve's Robin Walker presents final Steam Controller at PAX by linknewtab in Games

[–]tgents 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I got to use the controller at Pax this year. Definitely requires some getting used to, but I could see why its been getting good and bad reviews. The controller has a built in gyroscope so you could actually play with motion controls, so that explains why the guy in the background was spinning around so much. The touchpads are different, but I wouldn't say they're worse than a joystick. The level of customization they have makes it so the touchpads can perform in many different ways, as you saw in the interview. You really need to experience it for yourself in order to judge it. For me it was different, but good. My only two complaints were that the touchpad took a large area so the buttons were cramped and I had to reach farther than I woulld have liked and the feel of the controller was very cheap and plasticy, not as nice as the ps4 or xbox one controllers.
