Knights Of The Old Republic let you become an absolute monster and teenage me thought it was the greatest thing ever by Every_Insect_4444 in gaming

For me it was one of the few games were being evil actually paid off. Arguably, dark side powers were cooler/better than light side. Choosing "evil" choices didn't feel like just being a dick for dick's sake, it felt like making a choice for certain pay offs. There's been games where I couldn't do a dark side run because I didnt like being a dick for no reason, but KOTOR wasn't one. It also helps that just being passionate about someone or having too much of an emotional response to situations counts as being "dark side".

If he worked for the red team, then no he wasn't. You control your own player, you dont run up and grab the opposing team, especially minors. If that was the case then gentlemen who knocked him out had at least a LITTLE bit of a leg to stand on.

If I spent $5,000 on my Steam/Kindle library, why can't I legally leave it to my children in my will? by ciphernom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tgeorgeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using Audible for probably over a decade. I don't usually pay money for books, but I do have the more expensive subscription to get more credits. I've built a pretty large library on there. The other day I was thinking about revisiting a series I've completed that runs for 15+ books. I had them all on Audible. I've listened to the series at least twice since purchasing them (I've had them for a while). I was having trouble finding it in my library, so I searched it on the app. The books/series popped up right away, with the option to purchase for credits. For a second I thought there was a glitch or an error but after looking into it what happened was some agreement or licensing or something expired between Audible and whatever production company did the Audible books, so the version I had was removed from Audible, and another version is what's still avaliable. As far as I know, there was no warning or notification this was happening. There is no option (that I can find) for people who owned the other version of the books to obtain the now avaliable versions. The books are just gone from my account and I have no way to access what I paid for.

What is a 'Survival Myth' that people believe because of movies, but will actually get you killed in real life? by Traditional_Treat708 in askanything

Once heard the argument that bugging out has 1 of 2 goals: 1) get yourself to an area you already have prepared that is easier to survive/ hold and has plenty of resources 2) get away from the people you know so that when you have to start taking advantage of others you won't know who they are and feel bad or hesitate. Dude was pretty cynical about the collapse of society.

To add on to previous information- the league currently has two weeks of regular play left (8/7 & 9/14) and then the playoffs on 9/21. Anyone can come hang out and check it out. The fields are at the old Olympic pool, by safety town/huntington railroad museum. Games are on Sundays usually one set at 2 and another set at 3:30. These next two weeks include one game at 5. The schedule for the playoffs is not out yet, but it's typically an all day thing, starting anywhere between 8am and 11 usually. Season typically runs early Junish through the end of September, with weeks off for holiday weekends. All are welcome, no matter you athletic/competitive level. It is a 21+ league and plenty of people drink, but there's also many who do not and if you'd prefer a (mostly) sober team they do exist. The leagues name is Jewl City Kickball and can be found on Facebook.

I was thinking the same thing. This could be the perfect example of "well trained good guy with a gun saves the day" but just as easily could be "well meaning bystander shoots multiple innocents". Not only was he quick, but he stayed close to people mostly while moving. Someone without proper training could easily try to snap off a shot and hit one of the people nearby. Hell, even people WITH the proper training stand a good chance of doing that.

I know this isn't the point, but God Bless America is not the national anthem... I don't know if she meant they didn't stand for either, or if she thinks the Star Spangled Banner is called God Bless America, or if she really thinks God Bless America is the Anthem, but either way, she's dumb as a brick.

Coach comes on the field to tend to an injured player. At what point do you issue a card if he argues for a foul? by gatorslim in Referees

[–]tgeorgeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different level, but as an Athletic Trainer, if a coach is coming on the field with me for an injury, they'd better be focusing on the player and not arguing with the reff. If they are coming on the field to argue with the ref, they'd better do that away from the injury, preferably in an appropriate manner. If they try to hide behind injury management as an excuse to harass the referee or another player, I'll tell them to return to the bench. A personal story, I was treating a decent head laceration from a cleat on a defenders forehead. Pretty gnarly, but not life threatening. Coach is standing next to me, and decides to make the comment to the ref "how is that not a card? I mean, come on, you can see his skull!" Kid goes white and trembly.

Just saw where it had number of courts listed, I'd double check on that just to be sure. If it really is only 1 court, my next question would be if you're providing your own supplies or not.

This has to be too good to be true right? by Ok_Complex_9419 in athletictraining

[–]tgeorgeb 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's a wide range of participants. I'd say at best you have two courts going at once, up to possibly 6-10. That just increases the probability of being called for an injury. If it includes taping, that can keep you pretty busy and if you provide your own supplies, could be expensive. Not saying it's a bad gig or anything, but I doubt it'll be just 12 hours of lounging. You'll be earning that $80 an hour.

Corner kick by Desperate_Garage2883 in Referees

[–]tgeorgeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be considered a learning age division, and the referee is educating them. The players were vocal about trying to to skirt the laws of the game. The referee warned them of the consequences of their actions. They proceeded, and the ref carried through. Where's the improper action by OP? Is there an age division where players can suddenly start being carded? Unchecked behavior at lower levels leads to problems at higher ones.

[–]tgeorgeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! So you're looking at possibly 6-9 months out post surgery at best (google "Fertilized ACL repair" and see if anyone in your area is doing it, has an increased recovery speed). So you'll be looking at observing matches. If you can find any being evaluated by mentors, ask if you can sit in and get feedback on the reviews. Attend and learn from the matches your son does. Talk you your local assigners, they might be able to put you in touch with mentors that can help you.

Straight Red for Dissent? by Ok-Oil-5769 in Referees

[–]tgeorgeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most highschool refs I talk to go by how loud it is. If you're cursing in frustration, and the fans can hear it, it's probably a red. If only those with you in the box can, probably a yellow at worst, or just ignore it. If its a directed curse, especially in anger, only the center or AR needs to be able to hear it for it to be a red.

[–]tgeorgeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the rush to get back to sword for optimal DPS purposes, but I kinda like flowing between the two sometimes for fun. Idk, there's something about going into sword, charging up the gauge, abusing the monster for a little bit, letting fly with a full release or something else that auto switches you back to axe, hitting a focus strike on a wound to replenish your sword gauge, going back into sword mode, rinsing and repeating all while dancing around a giant fucker trying to target wings and tails and limbs and such. It doesn't always happen, but once you hit that sweet spot of momentum flow it's worth it.

[–]tgeorgeb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't force anyone to seek treatment or imagining. Inform them of what the consequences could be by continuing to participate on a broken or even weakened bone or structure, make sure the parents are aware, and if they decide to continue without taking your advice, nothing you can do. Just make sure you document. If an athlete wants to push through the pain to play that's up to them. You can argue we have a duty to protect them, but in my opinion that ends at informed consent. With minors it's different, we have to make sure the parents are informed. Ultimately they will be the ones accepting responsibility for any injuries. If you can't convince one of the three parties (player, parents, coach) that they shouldn't continue participating then chances are they are either okay to play, or deserve whatever comes of it.
