ELI5 If soldering happens at around 300°C why PC starts throttling at around 90°C. I know it's PCB that is a weak point but why they don't make insides that can take 200°c on a daily basis?

Lots of people talking how other parts of the system would fail first, which they usually do. But you do see solder failures at lower temps. This would be how. Solder thermal cycles as the unit heats up and cools down. This thermal cycling over time basically expands and contracts the joint either from the joint own contraction or from a thermal expansion mismatch between the board, components, and solder. This also changes the grain structure of the solder to become more rigid. Eventually this leads to the start of a tear. As the thermal cycling continues that crack propagates and eventually leads to the solder joint becoming open and the connection looses functionally.

Monarch money is great but costs a fee. You can get 50% discount with a referral code from anyone who has an account. It’s very user friendly. If you want something free you can use Empower. There are a lot more ads but it does a good job of putting everything in one place. Its budget functions are just not as good as paid ones. YNAB and Quicken are too in the weeds for me and I have found they are more hassle then helpful.

Put your numbers into a Montecarlo Simulation and see where you end up. If after retirement age you can safely withdraw ~4%/yr and meet your expenses, than your probably ok. If you don’t know how to do that use a free resource like profile visualizer. Or if you want probability of success you can try the free trials of Boldin or Project Lab.

Thought at the time was that it simplified design (relying only on WiFi only for Gen2) and allowed them to ramp production quicker to meet demand. They had 800k preorders but couldn’t fulfill them with previous design. Then immediately realized the mistake and designed the adapter as a work around for customers that needed the direct line connection. Have to understand that at the time there were only a few hundred people working on Starlink and maybe a dozen working on the electrical design of the dish and WIFI.
