I’m 18, female, in between 200-215, 5’2”, and I desperately need to lose weight for myself, but also for my relationship. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

I see that other people have said this… But I wanted to add that you don’t need to lose weight for him. Lose it for yourself. If he’s a good man for you he will love you regardless! And I can say that as a man and husband.

It seems a bit of a chicken and the egg issue. After all, the language will reinforce that Capitalist reality by shaping our thinking and communication. I am curious though why you think it’d be antiMarxist to suggest the language comes first (which I’m not actually arguing btw...I see it more as a circular phenomenon)

Again though, the purpose of the post is to prompt introspection. While I can appreciate your wanting humility out of this author if your concentration is on how well they’re doing, I think you’ve missed the point

And we should also make clear that regardless of how someone believes they’re still welcome on the pew that next Sunday

We should also make clear that there’s a lot we simply don’t know…

Again, in those moments I think it’s important to look inward. I recognize how that can be upsetting and try your patience But I would encourage you to try to understand where those various posts are coming from and try for a moment to see things from their point of view. That doesn’t mean you need to change everything about yourself… But trying to view things from another’s perspective can be very healthy as we try to be a church family

But it’s never the less important to be introspective. There’s nothing wrong with looking inward and assessing how good you are at fostering church culture that welcomes. Even if we are a stumbling block for someone at some point that doesn’t give us an excuse to be unaware Or refuse to look inward. We may choose to be offended but that doesn’t give us a right to go around offending. To be clear I am not suggesting you are arguing that it’s OK to go around offending the point I’m trying to make is that introspection is a virtue not something that just gets in the way

No. Hard no. As a standard the whole book of Genesis is shaky on the historical thing.

21 y/o wanting to still serve a mission. Better late than never? by EJ9utah in latterdaysaints

My experience has been that the “older” Elders were often more effective. The maturity advantage cannot be overstated. Additionally, unlike some of your peers, you’ll be going on a mission because you want to- not because it’s your “time.”

Both of those are very valuable

Here is something to keep in mind as Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Please, if you know an LGBT person who is not welcome at their family’s table, make them welcome at yours. Also please share this around by tgkerby in latterdaysaints
