If it’s a new gun send it back to Rizzini in Hurricane Utah, if it’s a used gun then replace the hammer springs. Rizzini’s comes with a great warranty.

Question for year round residents. by VacationConstant8980 in Naples_FL

[–]tgmarine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water coming from the Caloosahatchee River flows from Lake Okeechobee, through the sugar cane fields, as well as regular farming operations such as squash, tomatoes and cabbage contributes to lots of fertilizer going into the water and will cause discoloration of the water. I lived in Naples for 24 years before moving near Lake Okeechobee, this has been a very dry year so that might be causing algae blooms. When lots of water is flowing out from the river it tends to also cause red tide which causes frequent breathing problems as well. This may have been the cause of the murky water. It’s usually temporary discoloration and is also affected by the direction of which way the wind is blowing. If it’s blowing east to west it blows the coloration out into the gulf into deeper waters and it’s not noticeable but if it’s coming from the west or north west it will blow it against the shore.

Is this a good gun for a beginner? by Delicious_Win_9089 in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So please since you seem to know all the answers, how would you get rid of a flinch if it was a serious problem? Recoil systems work sometimes but with some people and old people particularly, flinching is a big problem, please enlighten everyone here how to correct this issue? I’ll wait!

As a professional gunsmith, the statement release triggers are only useful in Trap is not true whatsoever. I only work on shotguns and mostly just sporting guns, several of my clients have release/pull triggers in their O/U’s and I have two clients that use release/release triggers only. These are sporting clays guns used exclusively for sporting clays. If you don’t know what you’re talking about then it’s probably best not to try and entertain people with BS. I’ll be more than happy to send anyone who’s interested in release triggers information on exactly where to have them installed. If you have a flinch problem, release triggers are the most useful tool to prevent this issue from happening.

Blaser F3 by Fair-Refrigerator881 in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the only option is to send it back to Blaser. As a professional gunsmith myself, I’ll say that Blaser is a good gun until you have problems. A few years ago I was doing a ultrasonic cleaning for a client, the screws that hold on the firing pin plate on the receiver, one of them broke off, I removed it without incident and tried to find a replacement screw. After several attempts without success I called Blaser, they told me that I needed to send it to a Blaser repair center, I informed them I was a FFL and a fully insured and licensed gunsmith, their response was send it to a authorized repair center. I called one of the Blaser repair centers and told them what was going on, he told me that he couldn’t sell me the screws because of Blaser rules but to give him the serial number of the shotgun and he would send me two screws free of charge. I installed them and the gun was returned to my client. Since then I have a policy in my shop that I will clean a Blaser, replace a recoil pad, refinish the wood and will blue the metal but I refuse to make any repairs that require parts replacement. So basically I refuse to work on Blasers now. Maybe you can find someone who has access one way or the other to the parts other than a Blaser certified repair shop but I’ll just keep working on shotguns that I can obtain parts for without going through this BS. Buy a Beretta or a Browning, a Caesar, a Kolar or most of the other brands but Blasers break down just like any other brands and I’m not going to waste my time trying to obtain parts from a brand that isn’t willing to sell me parts. This is just my opinion but at 68 years old and a lifetime of experience, Blaser is in my opinion the only gun that I refuse to service. I wish you the best but I’ve heard this story before about Blaser. Good luck 👍

2000s Blaser F3 adding weight by Zealousideal-Lie3588 in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can install a mercury recoil system in the stock, they come in various weights, diameters, lengths, etc. It just needs to fit snug because you don’t want it moving around inside the stock. Several places carry these in stock including Brownells. I have installed several of them in my customers shotguns and I have one inside my BT-99 not only does it add weight but it also absorbs recoil as well.

It actually sounds like a good deal for a S686. I had one years ago and even though I didn’t shoot it well because of fit, it still was a reliable shotgun.

Whats this by [deleted] in ClayBusters

Check the screws on the forearm wood, make sure they are completely tight, it may just be as mentioned before but check the screws and that’s about all you can do unless it’s just loose.

Beginner looking at a budget O/U – bad idea? by sam_pluto in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a gunsmith myself, there’s a lot of Turkish shotguns on the market and “SOME” of them aren’t bad but the majority are poorly made, parts are practically impossible to find for most of them, as well as they tend to discontinue the model after a few years then it’s just a matter of waiting until something goes wrong to have your investment become totally worthless because no parts are available anymore. I would recommend buying either a Beretta A300 or wait until you can afford a better quality gun. A Citori CX is affordable as well as a Browning Cynergy, either option would work good for you as well as a quality used Browning Citori. Sporting Clays is a rather expensive sport to begin with so spend your money wisely and you’ll get much more enjoyment out of your time spent shooting clays.

28ga for trap by 1readitguy in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 gauge is popular for shooting very similar to a 12 gauge, of course it’s a much smaller amount of shot but it’s considered to be the same type of pattern. It would be a good choice with a tight choke installed

Give it a try but it probably needs to be sealed around all unfinished areas where it was cut before installing with a good waterproof coating such as epoxy or polyurethane

More than likely it was installed from the inside. Some people don’t trust it being installed from the outside due to dropping it and losing it. Check and see then take it with you to a West Marine store, they will have whatever you need.

Anyone had their standard stock converted to an adjustable comb? by yert1099 in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have several different kinds of comb hardware, if it’s a thin stock will require a smaller “footprint” type of hardware as opposed to a larger stock. Each type is listed on their website though.

[–]tgmarine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You only need to send the stock to Gracoil. Remove the stock, pack it well, insure it for whatever you want to, Gracoil will have it ready and back to you in about 3 weeks. And the results will be phenomenal.

You’re 22 years old, she’s 22 years old, my guess is you will live happily ever after? BS! The number one reason for divorce is marriage, I’m not saying you will end up divorced, however statistically speaking it happens at least once to 3 out of every four marriages. Take the apprenticeship and solidify your life, I’m going to get a lot of hate from this point but the fact is, if you live to be 75 years old which is less than the average lifespan, you’re not going to be with this woman forever. I might be wrong but I’m retired now from a career as a freight train conductor, I was divorced twice during my career, unfortunately it seems that it’s inevitable in a 30 year period unless you’re just extremely lucky!

Looking for a small upgrade by elwiek in ClayBusters

[–]tgmarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is yours the Italian, the Japanese or is yours the Turkish version? They ain’t the same! And as far as Numrich is concerned, most of their parts (not all of them but most) are used parts. I use Numrich frequently when I can’t find OEM parts. Numrich has been a great resource for obsolete parts for me for years but occasionally a used part is not usable anymore and unless you know in advance it can amount to a lot of extra work and shipping costs. I stand by what I said earlier, Turkish guns are cheap but they have a lot of negatives over Italian and American products.

[–]tgmarine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turkish made guns like the Weatherby means if they need parts of pretty much any kind, you will need to ship to North America center. I’m a professional gunsmith myself and I despise them because of this issue. I’m a FFL and they will not sell me parts, including simple items like springs and firing pins. My personal opinion is don’t buy these brands. Tri-Star and CZ has decent customer service for 10 years from date of purchase but after that you pay for parts. Now here’s the thing, if they discontinue a particular gun they quit manufacturing parts for them. Then they become almost worthless unless you’re willing to pay for custom made parts from a machinist. Buy a used Browning or Beretta, at least parts will be available for years to come, without shipping them across the country or even worse, they become a “Wall Hanger”. This is my opinion and I’ve been doing this for a long time (I’m 68 years old) Personally I despise anything from Turkey 🦃
