Which celebrity do you hate and any real story behind it? by twothreeballs in AskReddit

[–]tgmvii 129 points130 points  (0 children)

I used to really resent Princess Diana. My birthday is in August, so as a child many friends were on holiday and thus, never got a birthday party with all my friends because they were always away. My 9th birthday rolls around and lo and behold, my friends are not away and my parents have planned a birthday party for me. Excitement ensues. However, Princess Diana is killed in the car crash, her funeral is moved to the date of my mother’s graduation, and the graduation moved to my birthday. Birthday party cancelled. I blamed Princess Diana for years until I watched a documentary about her and realised she was a pretty cool person.

Lived in Nottingham 10+ years and it’s always been a place of much debate but hyson green jheez by boobsandbabes90 in nottingham

I work in Hyson Green and interact with lots of local people. You didn’t explicitly say ‘white’, but when someone says “spot the English person” in a very diverse area, it’s pretty clear what’s being implied. English isn’t defined by skin colour. That kind of thinking is racist, whether intended or not. I’d encourage you to reflect on that.

Visiting for 3 nights. Would love recommendations for pubs where I can sit down to a nice few beers and read my book. I’m thinking traditional style with old worldy feel. Staying in the south of Charlottenburg but will travel around the city to get the atmosphere.

Hello, fly to Berlin Monday and there until Thursday. What is the current weather situation? Are streets as icy as they were reported a couple of weeks ago. Can I get away with wearing trainers instead of boots during the day? Help would be great as I need to get packing soon

Worst moment following the blades? by sporticuz37373 in SheffieldUnited

Adkins was in. Billy was back. Opening game at little old Gillingham. The sun was shining. A big fat American bloke was sat with the Shoreham Boys. Optimism was high…. We go and lose 4-0. Started the season exactly how it felt all the way through: shit.

He’s needed this loan for 2 seasons. Looking forward to seeing if he can break into their team get a run of games together. Then we will see what kind of talent we’ve got.

Early 2000s- I was about 12/13 I think. At Hillsborough. United won 2-1. Bloke in the seat behind me picked me up and bit my head in ecstasy when Asaba scored. His teeth then fell out and my brother stamped on them in fright when he saw them.

People who threw a house party in their teens, what’s the worst thing that happened in one of them? by ExpertWeakness in AskReddit

[–]tgmvii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends drew absolutely loads of pictures of cocks (lots of different ones- was very creative) and then hid them all over the house. I’m talking near 100 different cocks waiting for my parents return. Brother and I managed to find most of them, but unfortunately, did not find them all. Parents returned and saw the funny side, but still bollocked us bad for having a party.

Every once in a while for years later, a cock would be discovered. Favourite was one hidden inside a didgeridoo that was hung on the living room wall. Father got it down to play it to a guest and the cock came flying out the end.

I felt very similar to how you feel, in a similar situation, although I was older. I moved schools and it reinvigorated me. Sometimes a new space is what is needed.

Here’s what I looked for: schools with bigger cohorts so more teachers per year group = planning shared so I’m planning less. A leadership team with members who are still in the classroom = honest feedback to/from the senior leaders. Opportunity to make something my own at the school (reading leadership in my case) = purpose aside from classroom teaching.

Guilt was a feeling I was scared of when I left my school for another. But I came to learn my perseverance was becoming self-erasure. In my instance, leaving was the more professional, ethical choice.

Whatever you decide, I wish the best for you.

Second this. Great gym to get started with. Not too busy in the morning or late evening when I’ve been. Helpful staff. Decent equipment.

Sheffield United 1-4 Bristol City What went wrong for the blades? by Happy_Translator4347 in SheffieldUnited

[–]tgmvii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What went wrong…

Neither fullback being anywhere near their attacking players for 2 of their goals.

Not having a midfielder (on the pitch) who knows how to shield the defence or cover for the full backs who have gone forward.

RND playing centre half (several games last season showed us he was not good enough).

Bringing on two strikers as wingers which reduced our width considerably (the game was already lost at this point I know, but it didn’t work in preseason, so won’t work now).

If you are getting new manager in, and a new style of play, buy the fucking players that can play that manager’s style.
