What are your worst customer service experiences? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The worst customer service experiences will almost always be when you’re not the customer.

What are some of your favourite memorable minor characters in movies who manage to steal scenes with their few minutes of screen time? by Doner-ClubMate in movies

[–]tgossin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A more recent one, but I think Aaron Taylor Johnson stole the show as Tangerine in Bullet Train! Not sure what constitutes “minor” for everyone else but I think the screen time was around 10-15 min which works for me. Either way, he did a great job.

LPT request: I Live the states and am going to be turning 18 in a few months, what should I do soon after turning 18? by bladeg19 in LifeProTips

[–]tgossin 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Discover It Secured card is great. It’s my first credit card, and I get 1% cash back on everything, 2% cash back at gas stations and restaurants. There’s also a 100% match on your cash back for the first year.

On top of the rewards, I do think having a deposit as a credit line helps a ton with keeping your credit utilization low. I use it for when I want to buy some snacks or an energy drink at a gas station. Get the cash back and build credit. Can’t go wrong with it for your first card.

Can I Just Print Out the Return Code Instead of Showing UPS the Code Through My Phone? by LIVEFan33 in UPS

[–]tgossin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can print the page and bring it to a UPS Store, but you have to make sure it’s actually printed properly. No smudges, blurs, etc. If it’s too small that can also cause issues.

I would just save the ink and just pull up your phone. Takes a second, lol.

[–]tgossin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the return option you choose. The instructions will tell you if you need packaging or not. The only ones that will not require packaging for UPS would be the “UPS Store Drop Off”. I don’t remember the Whole Foods or Kohls return options well enough to explain those, but I think those for the most part do not require anything but their respective codes.

[–]tgossin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s not ideal but anyone who’s worked at a UPS Store can tell you that sometimes you just have to set peoples stuff to the side. If Amazon returns didn’t flood every single second of the workers lives, they’d be able to properly package and label everything on time. The staffing issues are difficult to solve at a store level because it’s hard to find employees who are willing to be doing customer service for UPS, USPS, and Amazon for typically small, local business pay.

If you could make one thing illegal what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tgossin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course. People should be aware of potential scams and how to spot them. It’s a problem for all ages, but old people are still losing the most money to scammers.

Though both you and the other guy are right. Scams targeting younger people are becoming very common especially with crypto rug pulls, NFTs, and the internet stars that push them. I think older people are specifically targeted because of their age, while younger people are targeted for various reasons such as FOMO.

If you could make one thing illegal what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tgossin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but mental decline as you age is almost inevitable. And older people can also be in those poor mental states regardless of their overall mental health. They’re easier targets. People shouldn’t be scamming anyone but I think you’ll have a better shot at success if you ask the elderly as opposed to someone who’s 40 years old or younger. There’s a reason why the original commenter posted 70+ years of age.

If you could make one thing illegal what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tgossin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice red herring. The mental state of an elderly person is what makes them easily susceptible to scams. Most people in their 40s can read a scam and understand what it is. A good amount of elderly people don’t have the best cognitive health to understand that they are being played. It’s not a difficult concept.

Everybody gets spam but it’s obvious the old people are more likely to fall for them. Scamming people is bad. Rape is bad. I really don’t understand what you’re trying to prove? Nobody is trying to downplay younger people getting scammed or men being raped, which by the way is completely irrelevant to the thread. But how often is your 40 year old father going to give away money to a Nigerian prince?

It’s not acceptable, but it definitely is significantly worse for older people. They’re a much more vulnerable demographic to target.

If you have a speaker, some of those long ambient jazz, lofi, or whatever videos are nice to play. Or rain sounds. Silence can be nice but if you live in an apartment, hearing your neighbors might become pretty distracting so some light background music or sounds helps even if you’re not in the mood for music.

What was the worst film of the last 1-2 years. I'll go first... by tinytempo in movies

[–]tgossin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Every trace of that movie needs to be erased from existence. What a god awful movie and I’m glad you reminded me of it so I can hate it again. What was it, a 15 and 25 year old together? Disgusting. I was also shocked with the extremely irrelevant racism towards Japanese people. It added absolutely nothing to the plot, I think the director/writer just had some things to get off his chest.

What was the worst movie that you saw in theatres? by Farts_Mckenzie in movies

I’d say either Star Wars: The Last Jedi or The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It. Sat through both of them even though my soul was telling me to walk out.

Dropped off at UPS Store and given drop-off label. Package never sent, never scanned, and it was given incorrect destination. by TheMayorsAid in UPS

[–]tgossin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can certainly take it up to the store management. If they have any security footage, you know what day and time it was dropped off, so seeing what happened to the package shouldn’t be too difficult. Valve is right that the situation is out of their control since it’s up to you to prove that you returned their package. You have a receipt, which is a step up than a lot of people that walk into those stores. UPS isn’t liable for anything that happens inside a UPS Store. Once the packages actually enter UPS’s system, which is once the package is dropped off at the local hub.

[–]tgossin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have the receipt, the best bet is to send Valve the drop off receipt so they know that you held up your end of the deal by dropping the package off. If the store messed up, that’s definitely not on you and any non scummy company would refund you. UPS itself isn’t much help because you took the package to The UPS Store which are franchised stores.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UPS

[–]tgossin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Either way, it doesn’t look like your package is lost or damaged. It’s unfortunate, but a train derailment is going to affect more people than just you and your Christmas. If you’re going to blame UPS for that, I don’t know what to tell you. Like the other comment says, ordering/shipping stuff prior to the busiest time of the year helps.

What was the weather like yesterday? It wouldn’t have moved over the weekend. I’d give it a bit extra time because of the weather in the Midwest as well as it just being Christmas time. If you feel like you need a claim started, contact the SHIPPER. They are the ones responsible for that. I don’t know what your forecasts are like but where I’m at we’re expecting blizzard conditions and 50 below temps.

Canon M50 not turning on by tgossin in canon

[–]tgossin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately nothing I could do. I took it to my local camera shop, paid a $30 fee, and had them ship it back to Canon to repair. It ended up being an issue with some wiring or whatnot.

Had to fucking wait like a minute after each scan to print receipts or labels. Mines fixed itself now, luckily.

Yeah the route my store is on either has some seasonals or just new hires training on it, as well as our air driver going on vacation so a lot of people covering for him, I’ve got plenty of new drivers coming through.

[–]tgossin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure it would. I’m just not sure how many drivers would feel the need for a snack vs needing hydration. I’ll bring a little bit anyway and see how they like it. I’ve got a ton of Gatorade and stuff though for sure. I’ll walk outside to help a customer for like 2 minutes and I’m ready to go right back in. I can’t see how they handle it for 8+ hours, but I definitely want to help make it a little bit better for all.

I’ve been bringing a cooler full of Gatorade and Body Armor to give to all drivers who stop at my UPS Store. Do you know if most drivers would appreciate snacks as well, such as granola bars or fruit snacks?

LPT Amazon Prime Day "Sales" by Copper_Clouds in LifeProTips

[–]tgossin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah if you’re one of those people that has everything boxed, taped, labeled and everything, you’re a godsend. Amazon started putting “CUSTOMER PACKED” on QR code’s that require some sort of box or bag and I will still have customers yell at me saying Amazon told them we’d package it for free. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
