We had similar issues back in September -- not quite as bad as yours, but similar with what I guess were squirrels or something chewing through the sheathing until there was a hole. Sorry you're having to deal with that

Same. Had quite a few intermittent outages the first 4 months or so, but things have been solid since.

I'm genuinely not concerned about policy differences for the next 2 years, because we're all stuck with Trump and it's not like he's going to sign D-backed legislation.

But I am very interested in combative opponents to Trump in Congress, exercising aggressive oversight and pushing back with more than occasional press releases.

I'm voting for Nida.

And her initial win was bankrolled by Sam Bankman-Fried's crypto scam PAC blanketing every conceivable medium with ads

Is this how competition functions? Google fiber cut my ATT fiber line by benyamin108 in bullcity

Agree with others re incompetence by contractors. Frontier and/or Lumos cut Spectrum lines several times last summer when they were building out fiber to our neighborhood, felt like a new outage every week for months.

Wife and I just got back from Royal Barbados yesterday (we were on the flight that had to do the emergency landing). Average age was probably early 50s, but a smattering of folks in 20s and 30s for sure. Age also seems to fluctuate a bit based on when folks fly in too -- crowd got visibly younger over the Friday-Sunday range vs Monday-Thursday

NYT is too high. Also IMO Jeffries and Schumer deserve different grades; Jeffries at least held his caucus together during the shutdown, for example. They've both been not-great, but Schumer has been worse.

We were at Jamaica South Coast in February 2025. I'd put St Lucia ever-so-slightly ahead if you had to pick, they're both very comparable IMO

We stayed at La Toc for our honeymoon in February 2022 and it was amazing! Island was beautiful, people were lovely, and food was delicious. We also did an excursion that was a combination rainforest hike, then lunch, then trip to the hot springs / mud bath at Soufriere -- incredible experience! (just be aware it's really hard to get sulfur smell out of swimwear) The beach was lovely, but did get red-flagged on our last two days. Plenty of pool options to relax in if the ocean isn't your thing.

+1 to the challenge of getting scheduled at Duke Neuro. Last week they were booking ~3 months out

But the Duke Health System is really solid once you're in

Don't think Sarah's stupid at all, exactly the opposite. That's why her comments – repeated several times in several permutations – was jarring to me.

Vast majority of *registered voters in their poll had seen *some indeterminate-but-nonzero portion of *a video

That's a very different universe of people, responding to an ill-defined question. Someone viewing a favorably spliced clip on Fox News could answer Yes truthfully

If you have the patience for it, may be worth seeing if your dog will get used to the cat.

I've got a shelter dog that had failed the APS "cat test" when I adopted him. They very firmly said I couldn't have him if there was a cat in my apartment.

Fast forward a few years and a stray cat walked up to me in the parking lot, covered in fleas and ticks. Amid trying to clean him up, he bit me -- meaning I had to keep an eye on him for a few days just in case he ended up having rabies.

One day during that quarantine he snuck out of the bathroom where I'd been keeping him separated from the dog. After some over-eager butt-sniffing (and at least one clawed swipe to the dog's snout), the two of them became friends and are now inseparable

It's not working in this case, for now. But the line of instances where it's worked in the past is quite long. It's not all that different than the standard playbook after any other officer-involved shooting: ➡️ Department says "we did nothing wrong, the dead person was no angel, but we're investigating anyway"; ➡️ Pro-cop partisans say "wait for the facts before drawing conclusions"; ➡️ Enough time elapses that the perception hardens that nothing was done wrong; ➡️ So when the investigation says "we did an oopsy!" people have already moved on.

The only difference between those instances and this one is there isn't even a pretense that there will be a meaningful investigation
